Just found out that there's apparently a movie being made about Ernest E. Evans, the USS Samuel L. Johnston, and the Battle off Samar.  Incredible source material, so let's hope they do it justice.

'Bout time. As kind of a war-in-the-pacific buff I'm continually disappointed in Hollywoods ignorance of or refusal to tell any of the dozens of really epic true stories of naval actions from 41-45. What those guys accomplished...

There's that other thread about the dignity of the Navy in terms of ship names, and I just cannot imagine why none of our destroyers are named after Evans.  An absolute travesty.
