Senate Dems hold out on spending deal, risking shutdown
By Alexander Bolton - 12/08/16 01:55 PM EST

Senate Democrats are holding out on backing a bill to keep the government funded through April 28, risking a government shutdown that would begin on Sunday.

It's quite possible Democrats will back the funding measure, but demands to extend miners’ healthcare coverage for a full year and to require federally funded water projects to use American steel are holding up a deal.

Government funding is due to run out at the end of the day Friday. The House is expected to approve the legislation on Thursday.

Democratic objections are led by Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Sherrod Brown of Ohio, who are both up for reelection in 2018 in states carried by President-elect Donald Trump.

Don't do it DEMS you just might win nine Senate and 13 House seats in the 2018 midterm elections like the REP's did in 2014, and yea, everyone will hate the one in your party that has the balls to lead the effort like our party did Cruz.

Yes Democrats, Shut Down the Government

Senate Democrats are contemplating shutting down the federal government because they want more money for coal miner benefits. They should shut it down.

The nation can survive a government shut down and shutting down the government would obstruct the Obama Administration’s efforts to push through last minute regulations. Because regulations preparation is not paid for out of monies collected through fines and other sources outside Article I funding, if the government shuts down they can’t regulate.

I hope Senate Democrats refuse to settle for short term funding for coal miners. They should shut down the government. Show the coal miners that they care. And in the process, that shut down would stop the EPA’s regulatory assault on coal miners.
