Goldman Sachs poised for return to power in Trump White House
« on: November 30, 2016, 06:40:31 pm »
But, according to many Trump supporters, Heidi Cruz was evil.

NEW YORK — Government Sachs is returning to Washington.

After a decade in the wilderness, Wall Street’s most powerful firm, Goldman Sachs, is dominating the early days of the incoming Trump administration. The newly picked Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, spent 17 years at Goldman. Trump’s top incoming White House adviser, Steve Bannon, spent his early career at the bank. So did Anthony Scaramucci, one of Trump’s top transition advisers.

Goldman’s president, Gary Cohn, spent an hour schmoozing with President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday and could be up for an administration job, possibly as director of the Office of Management and Budget, people close to Cohn and the transition said. Cohn, a long-time commodities trader, is friendly with Trump’s powerful son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

The concept of "draining the swamp" is incompatible with an administration stacked with Goldman Sachs alumni.

You want someone to fairly oversee the banking system? Sheila Bair would be my choice, she was fantastic at the FDIC.

https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-sheila-bair-student-debt/

Quote
Sheila Bair Called the Financial Crisis. Here’s Her New Nightmare

But just as in 2006 at the FDIC when she foresaw the coming mortage crisis, Bair sees a potential financial catastrophe looming in her new industry—a generation of overly indebted Americans who will be too weighed down by debt to contribute to the economy, tanking it once again.

“In the aggregate, this is a huge problem,” Bair said.

She was stymied at the FDIC, but here she can do something—even on a small scale. So Bair has turned her campus into a laboratory. Her pioneering efforts to reduce student debt and make higher education more affordable could inspire other schools to do the same, said Larry Culp, chairman of the school’s board. “Other college presidents would study these issues endlessly,” Culp said. “She moved quickly.”

The entire article is worth a read.

Goldman Sachs spent a decade in the wilderness? What sort of idiocy is this?

I'm wondering how the Trumpsters are taking this?  Goldman Sachs was one of the key reasons they were so against Cruz. Trump vowed to insert outsiders into his cabinet and he is doing exactly that.  He is a business man, he is not a politician and sold to his supporters he was an outsider.  To think that with Trump's money and business connections he doesn't have political ties and friends inside the beltway is really naive.

Trump may have a patriotic interest in the country, but (and I've stated this several times) he didn't take on the job of President if he wasn't going to make him wealthier and more powerful.  Chance are, he owes a few favors now as well.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Rather than start a new thread, I predict that Mnuchin will not be confirmed without employing the nuclear option. It all revolves around the acquisition of IndyMac. It's a perfect line of attack for the Democrats, on multiple fronts.

Reasons for why this is a brilliant move coming in 3...2...

Why is this brilliant? I'm not seeing it, unless it's to force McConnell into using the nuclear option. IndyMac is bringing back a lot of memories from my time at the FDIC, and the 500 banks we closed.

I thought being beholden to Goldman Sachs was a cardinal sin, considering the way the Trumpturds assaulted Cruz and his wife because she had worked there.  Apparently under their current airbrushed history being beholden to Goldman Sachs is now a good thing.

Damn, I thought it only went as far as six dimensions. What do I know, I have trouble keeping up with my 6 YO grandson.

Trump supporters won't care. If the 'Establishment' does this, then it's bad. Very bad. A sure sign of corruption and the need to drain the swamp.

If Trump does this, it's keep your enemies closer and all that, or forcing McConnell to go nuclear to get the rest of his appointees thru, or pick your super double secret inside 16th dimensional chess strategy move that still manages to drain the swamp by bringing in more alligators and raising the water level.

Those Goldman Sachs guys are good ventriloquists seeing as how they also have total control over Trump.

Trump will never govern against his business interests. Ever!

Said it a year ago. Validated today.

Of course not.  And just as his personal foundation has admitted they broke the law against private enurement, Trump will probably end up being one of the corrupt presidents who used the office for his own private enurement.  Shades of the 1800s all over again.

I don't need to defend it @jmyrlefuller .  I could explain it, but that might impact the angst spilling all over the place since Donald Trump's victory.

And in all candor, I don't want to end the angst --- it's a necessary step in healing.  Yes, I'll admit, it's fun to watch.  But more importantly, the angst needs to be worked through. Only this will allow us to meet on the other side of it and...together... move forward and make America great again.

So carry on.

Godspeed.   :seeya:
