One person dead, so, we don't know if that could be the shooter or whom and yes, I heard that a number of people were sent to the hospital.

There are reports that up to seven people were taken to hospitals, but it was not known if they were injured evacuating or were involved in the incident.

Police are putting up yellow tape around the building.

There was another report that a machete was involved.

Just reported the shooter is dead.


They are telling the students to stay in their rooms, lock the door and to defend themselves with throwing things and yelling.

Attacks with a machete are almost always Islamic terrorism. This kind of attack is common in Africa. And Muslims have done machete attacks in Israel and all over the world.


Using a machete is not typical for Americans or Westerners in general.

Yes, of course. As we all know, these stories tend to change as more information comes in.  Just as I was speculating, the news media also fills in blanks in knowledge with speculation.

Some reporting on the Ohio news stations that some were run over by auto, the intruder had a machete and a fire arm.
No doubt it will be days before the entire story is filled in.
For now we pray for the victims and their loved ones.

I was just watching the news and they reported all the injured were stabbed (possible way to deflect muslim machete attack) and none were life threatening.  This must sadden gun control nuts.

UPDATE 12:31: During the incident this morning, Jerry Kovacich, a third-year in welding engineering, witnessed a man in a motor vehicle try to drive into a crowd after a fire alarm went off. After the car crashed, the man then attacked bystanders with a knife.

“I didn’t see anything with the shooter, what happened was it was outside of MacQuigg Lab,” Kovacich said. “The guy ended up just coming and hopping the curb with his car and trying to mow down a couple people. He lost control, and I think he ended up hitting three people, and then people were around the car. Somebody asked him if he was OK and the guy just hopped out of the car with a butcher knife and starting chasing people around.”

A statement from Ohio State said that injuries sustained Monday morning include “stab wounds, injury by motor vehicle and other injuries that are being evaluated.”

A press conference is to be held Monday afternoon, OSU officials have not yet set a time.

Update 1:23 pm: According to Ohio State police chief Greg Stone said at 9:52 a.m., the suspect drove onto the sidewalk on 19th Avenue and struck pedestrians. Afterwards, the man exited his vehicle with a butcher’s knife and began attacking people. An officer arrived at the scene and engaged the subject and ended the threat. According to Stone, there are nine people injured, with eight in stable condition and one in critical condition. All injuries are believed to be no-life threatening, and the rumors of a second suspect proved to be untrue. Two individuals removed from the Lane Avenue garage are no longer suspects.
