Original Marine Raider Doc Gleason Laid to Rest
Arlington, Virginia, United States
The Marine Corps laid an original Marine Raider, James “Doc” Gleason, to rest in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Nov. 16, 2016. The Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Robert B. Neller said, “Doc Gleason was a member of our greatest generation. He committed to fighting in World War II the day he turned 17, and then volunteered to serve with our first Marine Raiders. He was the epitome of a warrior-shipmate, and he will remain our brother forever.”
