Obama's last White House Thanksgiving: Turkey, prime rib, six kinds of pie

The White House on Thursday released the menu for President Obama's last Thanksgiving as president, which includes a half dozen hors d'oeuvres, turkey, prime rib, lots of side dishes and six kinds of pie.

Here's what the Obamas will feast on later today, according to the White House pool report:

Hors d'oeuvres

    Mini BLT's
    Chicken satay with peanut chili dip
    Mini crab cakes
    Pizza bites
    Fresh veggies and hummus
    Pigs in the blanket

Dinner buffet

    Thyme roasted turkey (carving station)
    Garlic jus and cranberry-orange relish
    Honey-baked ham with apricot-mustard glaze
    Prime rib and creamed horseradish
    Shallot marmalade
    Fried chicken wings

Sides

    Cornbread stuffing with chorizo and roasted peppers
    Oyster stuffing
    Braised winter greens (collards, kale, and turnip greens)
    Macaroni and cheese
    Sweet potato gratin
    Yukon gold mashed potatoes
    Green bean casserole
    Fresh greens and kale caesar salad
    Dinner rolls

Dessert

    Banana cream pie
    Coconut cream pie
    Pumpkin pie
    Apple pie
    Pecan pie
    Cherry pie

We had tacos, we always have tacos.  My children never liked the usual things that are involved in Thanksgiving so years ago I started making tacos and it just became our family tradition.  This year it was just my older son and my mother which is great with me.  The older I get the more I don't like all the fuss and family involved with holidays.
