Schumer Says No to a Border Wall
By Melanie Hunter | November 21, 2016 | 12:11 PM EST

(CNSNews.com) – Senate Minority Leader-elect Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told “Fox News Sunday” that he would oppose efforts to build a wall and pressed for comprehensive immigration instead, saying “this idea of a wall, we already passed.”

“And this idea of a wall, we already passed -- John McCain and Chuck Schumer, bipartisan, an immigration bill that was comprehensive, that did a lot and was much tougher on the border than a wall would be,” Schumer said, referring to the failed immigration bill put forth by the Gang of Eight.

The Gang of Eight consisted of:

    Sen. Michael Bennet, D-CO
    Sen. Richard J. Durbin, D-IL
    Sen. Jeff Flake, R-AZ
    Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC
    Sen. John McCain, R-AZ
    Sen. Bob Menendez, D-NJ
    Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FL
    Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-NY[4]

We have a slim majority in the Senate and I would say that it is safe to assume (other than perhaps Rubio) that these senators will continue to derail conservatism and American sovereignty and they are going to do everything in their power to ensure Trump fails.

Hey, Chuck - why won't we top our wall with barbed wire? Is it because we actually don't want to deter people from hopping it?
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

Poor Chucky - He cannot even remember he voted for and got passed, and appropriated money for this wall.  Obama refused to build it, so it will be an easy one for Trump to finish it as he will simply be obeying the law-unlike his predecessor.

He will be an outstanding replacement for Reid as minority leader.  With Chucky's record of obfuscation, he will stay there, the minority, for quite awhile.

??? Yes the Secure Fence Act of 2006 was passed by both Houses of Congress and at the time 'W' Bush was president and the fence should have been built then however, funding for the fence was blocked ... keep in mind that it is the House that has the power of the purse and  Democrats won the House majority in the 2006 elections.  The last 2 years of W's term, the DEMS controlled the House and Senate and consequently funding was never appropriated for the fence.  Obama took office in 2008 but in the midterms afterwards the GOP had the majority in both the House and Senate.  The GOP had the largest majority in the House in decades, yet the wall has still yet to be built.  The question is why?  We will have an even narrower majority in both Houses next session and I remain very skeptical that the wall is actually going to get built. Yes, Paul Ryan gave an excellent speech saying how now things will get done because of the GOP majority ... really?  We've had the majority.

Congress does not build the wall.  It simply appropriates the money and directs how it should be spent. Money was appropriated for it but the RINO Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison initiated legislation in late 2007 which was passed that allowed the Executive dept to use its discretion to build the wall as appropriated.

The Executive would be responsible for building it, and did some during the rest of W's tenure.  His successor Obama stopped it.

Thanks for the clarification.
