Texas governor says he will ban sanctuary cities

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) is pledging to ban sanctuary cities in his state even as other governors and mayors promise to continue sheltering illegal immigrants.

"I'm going to sign a law that bans sanctuary cities," Abbott tweeted on Sunday.

"Also I've already issued an order cutting funding to sanctuary cities."

I'd ask what took him so long but Obama probably would have went after any state that tried to enforce the law.

Cut funding to what pot of money? And what other penalties can he impose? He need some big teeth in this.

Texas cities receive virtually no direct funding from the state...
