I got tripped up on that awhile back.   In most instances of demonstrating possession,  you ad an apostrophe "S".    For "It"  that process is reversed.   "Its"  is the possessive form,  and "It's" is regarded as a contraction of "It Is." 


English is weird.   (The word "weird"  also violates a normal practice.  :) )

Only bright side to English is it mostly avoids gendered nouns. Mostly.  :tongue2:
