Yes, he was Texas Ag. Commissioner for eight years, before he ran for and won the Lt. Governor position in 1998.

Hell, he's a AGGIE. Texas A&M, he could grow bull $hit on a sheep farm, and be much happier with the company.

I like the line up except for Giuliani and Christie -- 2 NY liberals!  I am disappointed that the list doesn't include Cruz; especially after who I feel helped him win at the end.  But, I am too elated that Clinton is defeated to let that spoil victory.

Giuliani is good.. great in that position in my opinion. He's hardcore.

Teds place is on SCOTUS.. or running for POTUS again in a few cycles. Would that Ted was Potus elect now... should have been. Would not have been as close as it was.

He would be good but I think the Kuwait thing would be a unneeded distraction at the Confirmation hearings....

No confirmation hearings.

All Presidential appointees.... thanxs to Dirty Harry Reid, are not subject to a filibuster. Except for SCOTUS.

Fast tract... 51 votes and they are in.

Yep, Ol' Dirty Harry "nuked" the filibuster except for SCUTUS appointees( of which there were none at the time). for all Presidential nominee's...in order to pack the courts with obama scum.

This is still in effect, all judges(except for SCOTUS) , cabinet and any other nominee are not subject to 60 votes.

Funny is.. when they thought the Shrew would win, and they would win the Senate.. Dirty Harry promised to Nuke the filibuster for SCOTUS too.

Interesting I thought it just applied to judicial appointees, as I recall the GOP minority was quite upset, funny how playing around with the rules always seems to come back and bite them in the ass...

Judicial was the main thrust, but it also let obama take over the NLRB. ... after recess appointments by obama when the Senate was in Pro-forma session were thrown out by SCOTUS.

Please, God. Not Flynn-flam as SecDef. Guy couldn't decide on what shirt to wear if you offered him two white ones.

He has one very good point going for him - he listens, and remembers what he hears. So National Security Advisor would be a good fit.

I am still hopeful Trump might appoint Cruz to the SCOTUS. It gets rid of a future potential political rival, and satisfies the right like no other move he could possibly make.

If this list from Politico is any indication of what this administration is going to look like, liberal heads are seriously going to explode.

Nothing says "Drain the Swamp" like 40 year Washington Insider Newt Gingrich.

I feel better with Newt there.

Will Trump have the votes? The Dems have cloture proof numbers right?

It is likely that the Democrats would filibuster any conservative nominee.  With 2018 looking like a strong GOP year for the senate, I look for the majority to either change the rule, or bully the Democrats with a threat to change the rule.

Actually I don't think the senate would have any problem confirming Cruz.  He's one of their own.  Plus they'd be shed of him.

For appointing Ted Cruz? Oh I think that would cause a shitstorm among liberals like you haven't seen.

I know they're on the outs, but I would love to see Fiorina as Secretary of Commerce.  International experience, and an excellent understanding of the role regulatory overreach plays in crippling our ability to compete.

Nope, Fiorina is not to be trusted.

Cruz did help, your right. I like Cruz for the Supreme Court. Texas is reliably red so Cruz is available for use in a Trump administration. And Dan Patrick can run for Cruzs' Senate Seat.

Newt as prospectve SoS **nononono* . Bolton would be much better choice, IMHO.

Foggy bottom needs a though house cleaning. Newt is too nice for the job. Chris Christi for Sec of State!
