Well, yeah. That's the point!
I'm sure there would have been some speedbumps along with the way. But with the exception of the Christie fiasco that came from being overly-scripted on a particular question, I thought he was pretty good on his feet.
My concern is really the demographics -- not as much racial/ethnic but rather
age. There was a time in the early 80's where young people were actually more
conservative. And I thought Rubio had a better chance to connect with the younger generation, and perhaps open up their minds to more conservative ideas, than anyone else running. I thought getting that wedge in with younger voters could have been something that saved us moving forward.
Now, though, not only are we behind the 8 ball with all minorities, but with the young as well. That ain't encouraging. But I'd agree he largely had himself to blame. He crewed up on the gang of 8, and whatever chance he had to win despite that, he blew in the New Hampshire debate.
