Fwd: John, re HRC and the press From:john.podesta@gmail.com To: jpalmieri@hillaryclinton.com, kschake@hillaryclinton.com Date: 2015-05-21 12:43 Subject: Fwd: John, re HRC and the press He can be annoying, but this actually makes sense to me.---------- Forwarded message ----------From: "Brent Budowsky" <brentbbi@webtv.net>Date: May 21, 2015 6:30 AMSubject: John, re HRC and the pressTo: "John Podesta" <john.podesta@gmail.com>Cc:My Bill Clinton magic column is viral, 9.7k Facebook shares by 6 a.m.....Quick media relations suggestion: Would be good to organize periodic mediachats in a format where HRC and perhaps 20 reporters are sitting around atable,in a conversational format, with the rest seated or standing around theperimeter of the table. Even if they lasted only 15-20 minutes per chatwhen convenient. What I would suggest avoiding is a format where she walks up to the gaggle, with questions virtually shouted and microphones thrust in her face, thatlooks likea perp walk. And minimize the podium style news conference wheneverpossible.A good advance guy can keep an eye out for when this would worklogistically. She would almost certainly feel and appear much more comfortable in thismoreintelligent and conversational setting using a circular table, where thepress canrotate who sits at the table and who sits in the perimeter. It would lookmuch moreappealing on television and minimize gaggle members shouting out awkwardquestions just to be heard, with cameras picking up the shout whether HRCanswersthat question or not.....Would be worth trying this conversational press format at least once, tosee howcomfortable HRC is compared to alternative formats, and seek if we can moveaway from the perp walk/press gaggle....Sent from my iPad https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/36609
