@AbaraXas

Who you gonna throw out?   We are commanded to submit to our government.   It doesn't say submit if the govt is clean, or moral.   We have a say in who is appointed over us based on the system our forefathers put in place.  We have failed for generations to hold our leaders accountable and the only way to start is to step up to the table.   Walking away from the table will only ensure we don't have a say in what happens.

@driftdiver

Yeah, man... those pilgrims that walked away from King George's table... boy did they ever screw up in having a say in what happens!

Please. The time has come for all men of good conscience to stop participating in this uniparty debacle we call "government." It's time for us to start going politically Galt (for starters), then wholly Galt while the system burns itself down.

No, we don't delight in it, but that's where we are.

@driftdiver

Write him in, if allowed.

Or, if your ballot has only Trump and Clinton, don't vote. Unless you feel that the ballot is forcing you to vote. Like this one...

If you SERIOUSLY think that supporting one of these two train wrecks truly is the answer, then you deserve an America like Hussein's Iraq.

@bolobaby

A coworker spent about 5 years traveling around iraq working with business and government leaders.  He tells me that most Iraq's would prefer to be back under Saddam compared to what they have now.  They told him that if you followed the rules he left you alone.  Sure you might do without water and electricity but they were used to it.   Ironic that you use that example as a HIllary presidency would move us much closer to that style of rule.

I think one of these two train wrecks will be the next President here.   There is no other viable option.  I can wish it were different but that wont change anything.

Oh, no doubt one of these buffoons will be president, but you will NOT have me to blame for it, regardless of which one.

And thank Obama for losing the peace over in Iraq.

Do you submit to Obama?

Americans do not bow before rulers.

Remember, our government isn't a ruling royal class. Our government's basis is the Constitution of the United States. Those in the government are representatives of the people, not rulers over the people to submit to.

We are not submitting to a king. We are a Constitutional Representative Republic where the individual's rights are sacrosanct.

yes I submit to Obama.  I have continued to pay my taxes and obey the law.  I suspect you have as well.

Christians submit to the leaders God has appointed over them.  We get the leaders we deserve.  Its our duty to deserve better leaders.   That takes planning, participation and lots of work.

He told you in 2012 you should support him and vote for him. Did you?

(I know the answer to that is you didn't of course; just rhetorical). Right now, neither Trump nor Hillary are President so I have zero obligation to support or defend either. They are candidates for an office, and just like when Obama was a candidate for an office, you opposed him because he didn't match your values, I am opposing Trump and Hillary because they don't match mine.

Fair enough.  Nobody appreciates being falsely accused.  The true test of good manners, however, is how you respond.....

And speaking of false accusations -- are you calling people "stupid," and painting with an over-broad brush to boot?

Speaking for myself, I cannot vote for a candidate who is utterly unfit for office, whether the candidate is Hillary Clinton, or Donald Trump.  Putting either one of them in the Oval Office is tantamount to throwing gas on the fire, widening the hole in the ship of state, or whatever metaphors you care to mix.

Doing the right thing even if it makes no difference ... is still doing the right thing.

And doing the wrong thing in the forlorn hope that Trump will be different as president than he is now... that's the same kind of blindness that abused women suffer as a result of believing that they can "change" their boyfriends from animals into men.

@r9etb @mystery-ak  @musiclady
Oh I responded properly the first time only to be called stupid yet again.   Then called a liar when I challenged them.

The loudest voices here are rearranging the deck chairs.  ANYONE who speaks out gets thumped and put in the same category as the Trump trolls.

Whatever you call it, one of two people will be President.   Hillary is probably going to win but I will not sit here and do anything except condemn her and try to figure out what I can do to keep the country from getting worse.

Doing nothing but nonstop tirades on how bad Trump is will do nothing to help this country.  If anything it will hurt this country and all of our families.

Everything you said.

Personally I dislike Trump immensely but Hillary Clinton and her crypto-fascist progressivism is far more of a threat to me than is Trump's ignorance and ego.

One will be president. I have NO choice.

You keep saying one of the 2 will be president.  Yes, if you vote for either one of them that will happen.  But if everyone who doesn't like either one votes for some third party or fourth or fifth party, and neither one gets the required 270 votes then they won't be.
If you vote for one of these two then you're just making it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It's a fact but they refuse to accept it. So they intentionally want liberalism. If they wanted conservatism they would vote to advance it. Their mistaken beliefs about 'no choice' and 'two options' do not in any way alter the reality that there are choices they simply choose not to exercise.

You mean my vote alone decides the winner?  WoW the power!!

Do any of the other candidates poll higher then 8%?   No?  Then they dont have a chance.   I do my best to deal in reality.  If I'm going to start wishing then it would be for someone like Cruz to be elected.

Not furious at anyone but just angry with myself for having bad judgement in the first place.   I called you a liar because you have lied about and to me.  You were given a chance to fix it and refused.  You went even further to continue the insults.

Let me explain (to others, if not to you) what actually happened.  I'm not a bearer of grudges, so I don't keep track of everything that's said to or against me, but I'll try to reconstruct just the basics.

IIRC, we were having a disagreement, and I used the words "slow learner" because you weren't listening to what was being said.  In the same way, I saw a post you wrote yesterday where you told a poster you would "type slower" so he got what you were saying.

You were not calling that poster stupid.  I was not calling you stupid.  You were not picking up the points being made (as happens with all of us).

When you accused me of calling you stupid (which I wasn't), I explained, and that was when you started calling me a liar.  I wasn't lying.  I'm not lying now.  btw, saying that someone is making a stupid argument (which most of us do now and again) is not saying a person is stupid.

I do not now, nor have I ever thought you were either stupid or dishonest, but it's clear that you believe me to be, so I would suggest you put me back on Ignore so this doesn't happen again.

I apologize for saying something that made you misunderstand me and think I believed you were stupid.  I never thought you were.  I still don't.

But you are clearly very sensitive, and you clearly hold grudges, so I won't address any of your phony arguments and personal attacks on people who won't vote for Trump.

Suffice it to say that those of us who aren't voting for Trump are NOT "cheering" that the country is burning.

You are not stupid.  You are not a liar.  You are just very, very wrong.

@driftdiver  - this is the last I will address this.  If you want to go on attacking me, I won't stop you.  I'll let my record stand on its own.

Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

Nobody on this forum disagrees with you on this.  Nobody.  We all  believe Hillary Clinton will be awful, and we do condemn her, and we do wish to prevent the country from getting worse.

Where we disagree is in our assessment of whether Trump will make things worse, or not.  I believe he will be just as bad as Hillary, and possibly even worse, due to his propensity for picking stupid fights, and his inability to keep his mouth shut.  You have a different opinion.  Fine.

That goes both ways on this site -- nonstop tirades on how not voting for Trump is voting for Hillary, etc.  People can argue about that -- it's what forums like this are all about.

It's very unfortunate that such discussions too often descend into name-calling and ill feeling.  Internet conversations have a tendency to do that -- and the dissension among generally like-minded people does far more to help Hillary Clinton, than would a decision to not vote for Trump.

No, you are guilty of wanting liberalism because every election you demand people vote for liberals.

Fact: You flat out perpetuate the LIE that we have no choice but Trump. We Do. You have been corrected many times on this.

Fact: there are at least 5 options on the Ballot. One is a write in.

Fact: Johnson is more conservative than Trump so if you truly wanted lesser evil, he would meet that criteria.

Fact: Winning with a liberal is still losing for America and in no way conservative.

Therefor we can conclude that since there is at MINIMUM, one more conservative choice than trump, One has to actively prefer the liberal choices available.

If you want to try selling the idea that you get conservatism by electing liberals every election, which you consistently push for and have going back to the FR days, you won't find anyone but fellow travelers agreeing with you.

Not only that, but Johnson's fundamentally an honest man, and understands the Constitution and its limitations.   That ought to be enough for anyone who can't in good conscience vote for Trump.

Then there's the point that all he cares about is winning. If that is the case he is not going to win with Trump so he may as well vote Johnson, Castle or write in.

So what does that leave? Wanting liberalism.

Well, OK.  But to be honest, if this thread is any indication the nature of your own responses may have something to do with it.  If somebody insults you, there is no requirement (other than your own pride) for you to respond in kind.  It's easier and better for the blood pressure to avoid rash responses; or to avoid responding altogether if an offending post makes no points worth the effort of responding to.  (Not that I always follow my own advice, but I've gotten a lot better over the years.....)

It's quite true that one of the two will be president.  I can't imagine why people of good will could object to a statement like that.  Nor, if one is honest, can one rationally argue with the prediction that  Hillary Clinton is probably the "one."

It's what comes next -- what can I do with my vote to affect the result -- that causes the problem.  People of good will can and do disagree on that.  The presenting issue is how we respond to differences of opinion, and differences in voting.  As a political body we can either shatter, or get past the issue and find ways to work together.

IMO if Hillary wins, and she probably will, this country is finished.   We'll see massive numbers of muslim immigrants and millions of illegals will be made legal.  Our Supreme Court will be ruling against the 1st and 2nd and the 4th will be even more hollow than it is now.  Our military will be non-existent and our enemies will have all of our secrets. Our Congress will not impede her and anyone speaking out will be punished.

Have you seen ANY positive suggestions for preventing any of the above?

Yes - there is only one way - and it is regardless of a Trump or a Hillary win.

We need an Article 5 convention of the states. Period. Full stop.

No single candidate can stop what is happening to our country. If any candidate tries, the SCOTUS will crap all over their effort. Congress will balk. A crappy compromise will be made that puts the government's interest first.

A convention of the states will allow local governments to emasculate the federal machine. If they resist what the convention calls for, then they will be fully unmasked to the country, allowing a revolutionary overthrow of an overreaching federal bureaucracy.

That is it.

How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.

Well, yeah.... I don't think any of that is actually going to happen.  While I believe Hillary Clinton will be a terrible president, I seriously doubt she has the political capital to make any of that actually work -- so long as all of us who oppose her, spend our time opposing her, rather than each other.

Further, I think the mid-term political backlash against Hillary Clinton will be far worse than it was against Bill Clinton or Barack Obama, both of whom are perceived to be far more attractive human beings than she is.

Next, unfortunately, Obama's carnivorous chickens are going to come home to roost on her watch, and she'll be so busy trying (and failing) to deal with them that she'll have no time for anything else.

Finally, I think her ill health is going to become a real issue once she has to start dealing with the pressures of the presidency.  President Kaine is a real possibility.

I wonder...if your daughter or female member of your family gets groped or is sexually harassed...are you going to blame them for the attack or unwanted advances like you're doing with these women?

MY wife Was sexually harrassed  several time by a male employee. First time lewd comments.She told him off.  Second time he squeezed her ass. She kicked him so hard in the shin he limped for 4 days.  He never did it again.

Of course this was back in the late 80's when women took matters into their own hands and did not cry like little SJW's to the human resources department and she is also a no nonsense cow girl who does not take crap.
