Do you take custom orders? I'm looking for a four piece (cup, salad, dinner, mug) setting for sixteen with serving pieces (platter, deep bowl, shallow bowl, tray).

I think . . . that if I end up inclined to accept your order . . . I'd ask the following of you:

1. Offer your best guess about price for each item that you'd be comfortable with assuming the quality was as seen in the pics.

2. I wouldn't take any $ until the pieces were made. I'd take some portion before shipping and the rest after you received and accepted them.

3. I'd make at least one extra piece of each of the individual person pieces . . . and for 16 people, maybe I'd make 2 extra pieces for cost, say or even free--still thinking about that . . . just 'cause . . . life happens.

4. What State would they be shipped to?

5. I'd like to send you something soonish just so you can see & feel in your hands the kind of work I do. PM me an addy and I'll send you a couple of cereal bowls or some such. Maybe a smallish to medium mug or 2.

I just threw one that's now about 11" diameter and 4.5" in depth. I think Soldate clay shrinks about 14% by final firing.

I expect to throw some bigger bowls. The one I threw before that is a larger diameter . . . but the bottom is about 1/8" thick. I'm not sure it's going to survive the process without cracking. Sigh. I tried to not compress it so thin but didn't succeed in avoiding it. And it's now hanging upside down from the bat to let it harden some without falling down around it's ankles from the thin wall. LOL.

Doodness . . . not that one! LOL.

Probably bread bowls need to be about 1/4" thick at all points--with a robust rounded rim.

If you'll PM me an email, I'll take some pics and email them to you of the 3 I've thrown this evening.

I don't think any of them are suitable for her bread bowl but it would give you an idea of how I do big bowls--mostly. I can do them lots of ways . . . but for some reason, this is how I TEND to do them.

Cheers.

This video on the benefits of plain (evidently unglazed?) earthenware pots is interesting (though the somewhat annoying music might need turned down or off).

Supposedly water stored in them results in a bit of extra testosterone and other benefits.

I've made micacious clay pots (unglazed) that one can put on a burner. They are interesting and different. Evidently coffee in them tastes less bitter.

I have to throw them at the college because I don't want those scraps mixed up with my Soldate 60 scraps. LOL.

I have some deep plates left over from the Hospice benefit sale personal table.

I want to gift/send you a couple as samples.

You could PM me a suitable addy to send them to.

And, would appreciate knowing if hubby tends to eat a lot at one setting or a medium amount so I can judge which size to send for him. If you want a larger one, too, you can tell me. I don't have a lot of the larger ones left but maybe 2-3. I have a lot of the medium ones left.

Have been thinking, if you still want a 16 place setting of 4 pieces each . . . I could make one or two sets and ship them or pics of such off to you and then you could decide with more . . . finality, say.
