Latest Survey: Most Evangelicals Are Not Voting Trump

Americans with evangelical beliefs have a great deal in common. They trust in Jesus alone, evangelize their neighbors, and believe the Bible is the final authority in their lives.

But when it comes to voting, race and political affiliation still divide evangelicals, according to a survey from LifeWay Research taken before the second presidential debate.

Overall, the split between those with evangelical beliefs who support Donald Trump (45%) and those who support Hillary Clinton (31%) isn’t that far apart.

It's a shame how neither party could produce a nominee with a moral foundation. I'm going to end up voting 3rd party for the first time in my life. I don't like it, but I don't see an alternative. Why Trump supporters couldn't see how flawed their candidate is, or how his scorched earth personal attacks in the primaries would come back to cost him support, is beyond understanding.

I've already moved all my investments in equities into short term CD's. We may not only end up with a Stalinist in the WH but a socialist as budget committee chairman if the Rats win the Senate. We are in for some rough years. I think the days of the USA as the last western civilization nation that is Christian in character are gone.

I share your concern. It is certainly a reflection of our downward spiral as a nation. It's frightening that it seems to have gathered so much momentum in recent years. The line that Hillary keeps using -- that America is great because America is good -- was true at one time. Now drugs, drunkenness, moral depravity, disrespect toward others, etc. are all indications of a people who have turned away from their Creator.

Without a true, coast-to-coast spiritual revival, you're probably right. (7 Chron. 7:14)

Well with a big chunk of the public justifying anything because 'lesser evil' every 2 years and a bigger chunk wanting regular evil openly, it really can't be any other way. Eventually, after enough pain, damage and suffering under totalitarians, maybe our kids will find the courage to stand on principle where most of this era WOULD not.
