Proponents say they want to protect the death penalty to ensure that the will of the people of Oklahoma is met in the event a particular method of execution, such as lethal injection, is found to be unconstitutional.
Opponents say the question is unnecessary, invites costly legal challenges and, if passed, would violate government checks and balances.
