GOP Senator: It’s Time To Confirm Obama’s SCOTUS Nominee

Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake told reporters that Senate Republicans should take up the nomination of Judge Merrick Garland to succeed the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Though Flake consistently supports putting Garland’s nomination up for a vote, Thursday he implied Republican nominee Donald Trump was likely to lose the November election. Therefore, the Senate should confirm Garland before Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has the opportunity to nominate a younger, more liberal nominee.

Flake is correct. It's obvious to anyone with half a brain that its better now to confirm Obama's choice than what Hellary will appoint.

On another note - let's hear from those WITHOUT half a brain.

I see this as taking away a prime reason for the GOP electorate to vote Trump and has very little to do with them thinking Trump is going to lose.  With Hillary the corruption in Washington can continue. No one is sure about Trump.

  It's quite possible when hellary wins obummer will withdraw his choice (Harriet Myers redux) to give the choice to hellary, who will appoint trumps sister.

There is supposed to be a hearing first.  Or does Flake think the Senate should just rubber stamp the nomination without a hearing?

Not sure I like the idea of fast tracking approval of this nominee just because Hillary will nominate someone potentially worse.

What really galls me is that - even if (BIG IF) the Repugs maintain control of Congress - they will still rubber stamp Hillary's pick in much the same way they gave B. Hussein whatever he wanted.

I'd just like to point out that if stupid people had not REPEATEDLY elected leftist Republicans in an idiotic act of lesser evil voting, and stood on principle throughout the process, we would have a Senate we could trust to tell Hillary to get bent for the next 4 years on nominees.

But the Know Betters who repeatedly tell us that we have to elect liberals no matter what corrupted the entire process, elected liberals to the GOP that CANNOT be trusted to tell Hillary to get bent and here we are.

And what's their solution? Try to elect ANOTHER EVEN MORE liberal Republican that is a known liar.

That's the way I see it,too.

I THINK that Trump would PROBABLY agree to let thousands of them into the country if he were elected and the Sauds paid him enough,but that is a "possible probability" versus an outright certainty with Bubbette! in the WH.

He just couldn't place him on the Supreme Court without it.

The problem with delay, delay delay is that the GOP has 24 of the 36 Senate seats up for election in in 2016. The Dims only need to win 4 for a tie and 5 to take control of the Senate.
The scenario I see playing out is come late September the GOP will find that they are in real danger of losing their majority because the Dims and the media have successfully depicted them as obstructionists who cannot get anything done. In response the Senate concerned about keeping their jobs will approve Obama’s nominee....

The hearing would be as such:

1. Senators take their seat
2. Garland takes his seat
3. One Senator asks, "Are you healthy, Judge Garland?"
4. Judge Garland says, "Yes."
5. Senators unanimously proclaim, "Judge Garland is fit to serve on the Supreme Court!"
6. Senate confirms in oral vote.

By your logic, a President that said, "I declare war against (insert country here)." is only responsible for saying those words...
