The Egyptians are only the first of many former U.S. allies who may turn to the Russians for help.
I think we will soon see a lot more Russian influence all over the African continent.
The immediate goal of the Russians is control of the Suez Canal. That is why we are seeing all this interest in Egypt.
BTW, the Sinai is the southern border of Israel. So this latest development has Russian forces north of Israel in Syria, and south of Israel in Sinai.
In our lifetime we are going to see colossal fundamental changes to the world as we know it. And unfortunately as far as I can tell, the U.S. is shifting into some kind of weak, amorphous, 'no man's land', which has no real definition as a nation, while Russia and China are simultaneously nationalizing and are moving in to the vacuum the implosion of American strength is creating world-wide.
While Obama/Hillary/Kerry focus on gay rights, and men in the women's bathroom, and global warming, and all the other Liberal "cause de celebre", Russia is building nuclear weapons and expanding globally, and China is building the largest Naval Fleet that has ever been seen on Earth before.
