WASHINGTON (AP) - The Latest on the U.S. presidential election (all times EDT):5:34 p.m.

Donald Trump wants to know how many Christian conservatives are backing him in Iowa.

The Republican presidential nominee asked those attending a Wednesday afternoon rally in Council Bluffs to raise their hands "if you're not a Christian conservative."

He noticed "a couple people" raising their hands.

He asked the crowd, "Should we keep them in the room?" He answered himself, "Yes, I think so."

Many Iowa Republicans are Christian conservatives. The thrice married Trump has faced tough questions of his own about his devotion to Christian values.

5:22 p.m.

Donald Trump has said the name of former GOP rival Ted Cruz.

The Republican nominee saluted the Texas Senator at a rally Wednesday in Iowa, saying "Ted Cruz endorsed me the other day and I know the people of Iowa like Ted Cruz."

Cruz won the Iowa caucus and is popular among the state's evangelical population.

The Texas Senator held out endorsing Trump for months before finally announcing his support last week. He dramatically refused to back Trump at this summer's national convention, telling Republicans to instead "vote their conscience."

Trump had viciously attacked Cruz during their primary battle, insulting the senator's wife's looks and trying unsuccessfully to link Cruz' father with the assassination of President John Kennedy.

:3:

Is it just me or is that a little weird asking people who aren't Christian to raise their hands?  Can they stay?
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

It is weird on many levels.  I guess if they raised their hands then they were comfortable with it.  Very strange.

They could start handing out badges people could wear with the appropriate symbol.

  • WE are NOT ok!
You know what?  I've decided to make an new commitment to never ever support Cruz for President again.  There are other choices.

IMHO IF we lose the majority in the Senate and seat Hillary; we're not going to have to worry about supporting any GOP (and yes, those Republicans in name only as well) candidate for decades; certainly not in my lifetime.  To think that things are going to remain status quo or what we've been used to since we began voting, I my friend, think you are in for a very rude awakening. I'm not saying that to be smug, or coy, or threatening, but that is what I truly believe.  The Scott Walker's, Rand Paul's, Mike Lee's and Cruz' (though you're pissed as hell at him) will be a thing of the past.  Our Congress and are country will be run by the likes of Clinton's, McConnel's, Castro's and Elizabeth Warren's. Sharia law, the Muslim Brotherhood, LaRaza and the U.N. will have a very strong foothold on our country and you can kiss our Bill of Rights and the Constitution good-bye.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.
