One wonders......if, since his father seemed to 'dote' on him in his younger days, it was his mother that insisted on sending him off to military boarding school, due to not being able to handle his behavior.  It may well be that....if it was his mother that sent him away.... he (still) harbors intense resentment, if not outright hatred, for his mother ....and for all females, subsequently....for that slight that he may have never gotten over.   Hmmm....

Yeah............. things that make you go, hmmmmm............

I've thought before that his issues with women and his maltreatment of them and using them as sex objects may stem from a lack of emotional connection from his mother.

Whatever caused his problems with respecting women, they are very real, and the man shouldn't get within reach of the WH.

I will always hold his sycophants responsible for the mess we're in.  If the minority of the Republican party (or whatever they call themselves) hadn't forced this cretin on us, we wouldn't have a choice between a misogynist and a misogynist enabler this November.

Fortunately, we DO have other choices, and I will avail myself of them and not feel the guilt for the rest of my life of forcing disaster on this nation.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

What too many people here fail to see ... and they are not all Trump supporters ... is that nothing about this woman matters.  Nothing.

Not whether or not she has a shady past; not whether or not she gained weight or how much she gained.

This is all about Trump and his attitude toward women.  He was even a little snippy about Melania taking too long to lose her pregnancy fat.

He views women solely as sex objects and judges them by their appearance.  And he's mean and nasty about it.

Apparently, the Donald does not own a mirror.  He is a fat, stupid looking guy with ridiculous hair who could not get Miss Piggy into bed with him if he didn't have money.
Yet according to certain sleazeballs, it's all OK, because she had an affair with a drug lord 12 years later... or of the hundreds of women he's done this to, one of them liked the attention... or even his own daughters, he was joking, we all make crude jokes once in a while, right?

The people tearing this woman down for this would never do this to Bill Clinton's various targets.

It's despicable—deplorable, to borrow a word from a certain other candidate—and it's exactly why I cannot in good conscience vote for Trump. (Or Clinton for that matter.)

I can only speculate, but I'm guessing he did not have the usual close relationship.  Wealthy people, particularly years ago, often had little direct contact with their children during the children's formative years.  Parents showed their love by showering the children with the best of everything.  Dad was "too busy" and Mom had her social obligations.  I get the feeling that Trump really doesn't know how to have a loving relationship with his own family.  He would have learned how if he was close to his parents and they to him.

I'm glad I wasn't born wealthy.  My parents didn't have servants to raise us or plenty of money to shower us kids with gifts.  Both parents worked hard, but they made time for my brother and me.  I would rather be poor under those circumstances than rich with no love from my parents.

Yup he's quite insane.  But on what he said 20 years ago....geez....I certainly was no saint in my younger days....so I give him a pass.  Was it right....no...I do wish he would have said something along the line of...he regretted saying what he did.

Me, too.  IF he hadn't reiterated it Monday and then continued to do so yesterday.
Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain.

From personal experience—not my own, but of people I know who were born into money—this scenario is absolutely true. Unfortunately, the children of those with money often lack their parents' acumen for handling it and, because they were raised in such a lavish lifestyle, they end up not knowing how to manage their money when they reach adulthood.

And God help you if you ever try dating one of these rich kids. You're not good enough for one unless you fit their perfect preconceived notion of a partner.

No argument, but the more he deflects attention to such tempests in teapots, the less airtime will be spent pinning him down on more substantive issues, y'know, the 'hard stuff' that you get calls about at 3 AM?

It is funny how the weight gain keeps changing. Looking at the archived stories earlier today, it was everywhere from 17 to 42 and now we have claims of 60-70 pounds.

Hate to say it but I'm on the Donald's side on this one.  The woman gained 50-60 pounds thereby breaking her contract.  The picture of her working out was well after she had lost a bunch of the weight.  There is no excuse for gaining that kind of weight in under a year.  She was a Miss Piggy and I have no doubt she is also a criminal.  I'm a woman and this doesn't bother me in the least.  If a football player under contract had gained this kind of weight in this time frame everybody would be on his case, as they should be.

As much as I dislike the Donald this is just ridiculous.  I don't trust this woman at all.  Don't find her the least bit appealing either.
Duh Donald has managed to lower the bar, again.Republicans (and thus in the minds of those who would rebrand conservatism, conservatives) have traditionally been Chivalrous in their public behaviour, although we have been known to make exceptions and attack certain personages on their appearance, too. We did so after caricatures exemplified those traits, and already had soundly attacked them on issues.

This woman is not a candidate, her past is largely irrelevant (since the pageant, and she isn't running for office), the only thing of significance is that he, once again attacked someone for superficiality. If the weight was an issue, it can be discussed without going whole hog demeaning someone, merely as a contractual obligation, without gratuitous insult.

Treating others with a modicum of decency and respect, even if we don't feel they deserve that, is a Conservative trait. I seriously doubt Reagan approved of all the people he shook hands with, but he managed to be gracious and civil to all. But Ronald Reagan was a gentleman, Trump is not.

Her legal and moral troubles do not excuse Trump's name calling, especially since this was just an EXAMPLE.  Trump does it all the time.  Remember the list Megan Kelly threw at him?  Remember then how he smeared Megan Kelly?  Trump always has an excuse.  His excuse is always both that they deserved it for slighting him and that they are rotten people unworthy of normal respect.   Rosie deserved it.  Everyone deserves it.  He never takes responsibility.

As for the porn star stuff, HA!!   Does Melania then deserves name calling?    No one even called Melania names.  They just told the truth about her past.  Trump threw a fit when the truth just started to come out about Melania.  Remember that was somehow the excuse he gave for essentially calling Heidi ugly.  The truth that the Cruz campaign did not put out the pictures did not matter, nor would it have excused his smearing of Heidi anyway.  But that is how Trump sees the world.  He can do any hideous thing he wants and it is always someone else's fault.  He takes responsibility for nothing.  Just imagine what kind of blame shifting he will do in the White House.  That is probably just great with his supporters who love his vile ways.  Once he has what he wants (the power of the Presidency), they will become just another name on his list of people to blame and use and threaten "submit or else."  The man has such appallingly bad character that I wouldn't let him babysit children, drive a school bus, or sit on a jury.  Anything that requires honesty and good character he is unfit for.  The fact that Hillary is a leftwing extremist does not all of a sudden make him fit.

Whatever this woman has done wrong in her life, she doesn't deserve it to be plastered all over the media just because Trump needs a new excuse for the horrible way he treats women.  She is not on trial.  Trump's character is on trial.   Even Rosie O'Donnell, whom I disagree with on so many issues, does not deserve to be insulted during Presidential debates just to save Donald the slimeball.  It is what it is.  He is rude and hateful, particularly to women.  He treats women as objects whose value is weighed by their looks.

Set the contract issue to one side for one moment and look at the life history from this vantage
point: Candidates and office holders, in both parties, have been forced to withdraw from races,
surrender nominations, or resign from office over far lesser questions than those raised by Ms.
Machado's life history and the legal and ethical questions around a good portion of it.

Well, whatever mechanism does that, it's broke.

What would be the upside of Trump's calling a gorgeous Latino woman "Miss Piggy" and "Miss Housekeeping?"

There is absolutely no way to spin this in Trump's favor.

He's a creep.

Well, he's had the frog meme... now the Miss Piggy bit.

Is it me, or is he turning the national elections into the Muppet Show?

Omigosh... you people ARE Little Trumps.  Now, you are all about attacking a beauty pageant queen.

What's up with you people.

It is NOT about the beauty queen ... stop piling on her ... she is not running for any office I know of.

It is all about Donald Trump and his questionable sanity, attitude and utter meanness and pettiness.  We simply cannot have this man as president.

Asserting that a major American party, the party of Lincoln, has allowed itself to nominate a clinically insane person?
Crazy, isn't it? But what is, is, and it didn't just allow it, it demanded it (because the muckety-mucks could 'deal' with him).

This! ^^^^^

It MATTERS that he degrades women on a regular basis.  It MATTERS.

His lackeys (not including beandog here!) clearly don't care that he has such vulgar disrespect for women (probably because they don't either), but it MATTERS to women who have self-respect, and to men who don't treat women like dirt.
I find myself amazed that Hillary is attacked for enabling and defending Bill's proclivities in mistreating women, but duh Donald's militants are rushing to the battlements to defend him for his total vulgar disregard for women other than their decorative value.

I don't find it surprising at all. Liberals acting like liberals defending other liberals will ALWAYS do whatever it takes to get what they want. If someone is of such 'morality' they would support a man with Trump's documented history, then it is not remotely surprising they would act just like him in every way they can afford. It doesn't matter that Trump is a misogynist?  Have you forgotten "she's bleeding out her wherever"?

Women as "pigs."  "Dogs."

Donald Trump is a scumbag toward women.  He's cheated on his previous two wives while he was married to them, he bedded women of his business associates (as he revealed in his book), and all that matters to him about a woman is her looks.

This is a sick and perverted view of half the human race.  He has no business leading this country.
