Trump has sit-down with Egypt's president
New York Post, Sep 20, 2016, Daniel Halper

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump (left) holds a bilateral meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in New York on Sept. 19, 2016.

Donald Trump expressed “his high regard for peace-loving Muslims” during a meeting Monday night with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in New York, the Trump campaign announced.

The high-level sit-down focused on political, military and economic cooperation between the US and Egypt, according to a readout of the meeting released by the Trump campaign.

“Mr. Trump expressed to President el-Sisi his strong support for Egypt’s war on terrorism, and how under a Trump Administration, the United States of America will be a loyal friend, not simply an ally, that Egypt can count on in the days and years ahead,” states the campaign readout.

“Mr. Trump emphasized to President el-Sisi his high regard for peace-loving Muslims and understands that every day there are people of goodwill that sacrifice their lives and fortunes to combat the growing threat of radical Islamic terrorism.”

Trump also reportedly said that if he wins in November, the Egyptian president can expect an invitation for an official visit to the US.

Top advisers Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) and retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn joined the mogul for his bilateral meeting.

Hillary Clinton also used the United Nations General Assembly in New York to meet with several foreign leaders in town for the meeting, including el-Sisi, as well as Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko.
