The US Air Force (USAF) is seeking a replacement for its ageing Bell UH-1N 'Huey' helicopters used for security in its Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) fields and for VIP transport.
A request for information (RfI) on 9 September asked companies to submit data about available designs. The service also posted a draft of its Air Vehicle System Requirements Document and announced industry days for interested vendors at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio on 27-28 September.
The RfI asked if potential replacement helicopters would use spare parts in the military's inventory and if they have completed live-fire testing. Companies have until 26 September to respond.
