This was funny..gotta hand it to Trump..

Trump has a much firmer understanding of the media people than has any Republican candidate since Reagan.    I said a year ago that "If Trump wins the nomination,  he's going to win the General in a landslide."

I recognized at the time that Trump  was very media savvy,  and knew how to work them.

He's still not the candidate I wanted,  but he is orders of magnitude better than Hillary.

FINALLY....a Republican who is not afraid of the media!!!!  What he did today will be studied by political stratagists for a generation!!

GO TRUMP!!!       :patriot: :patriot: :patriot: :patriot:

Nope.  When he loses this might mark the beginning of the end.

The questions will continue.  It's not over, RIV.  In fact, it's going to get worse.  He will now have to do a full-blown apology.

They can, and will, do whatever they can to trash him anyway.  He just managed to get some great, free coverage out of this.

Free coverage for what?  His tacky hotel?  Nobody gives a damn about his hotel.

The lack of an explanation and an apology is the story coming out of this. Not "free coverage."

I am no fan of the corrupt media and this tactic would not bother me except for the untrustworthy/unstable person behind it.  His smarmy self with the power of the Presidency will be like a rebellious and spiteful juvenile delinquent with nukes.

Unlike what we've had with Obama?   Or would have with Hillary?

Oh, did I mention insane?  It would be like an insane, rebellious juvenile delinquent with nukes and other means of destroying anyone he doesn't like.

I am *NOT* able to follow your thinking.

He's no more dangerous that the other bozos who have held office.

At this point,  I think he is likely quite a lot less dangerous than Presidents like Kennedy,  Carter,  Clinton and Obama.

I could  do an essay on each one that shows how they were extremely dangerous to the nation,   but I would like to think most conservatives are already informed about such things.

But then again,  look how many there are that don't recognize how dangerous Hillary is.

**nononono*

Andrew must be turning in his grave seeing what his legacy has been turned into under Bannon and the "alt-right".

Andrew is, no doubt, roiling over in his grave along with every single one of America's founding fathers.  We are indeed being destroyed 'from within'.  And these cretins, that mistakenly 'think' that we're a democracy would love nothing better than to morph us into a mob-rule/majority rule pure democracy.  Yet another means of destruction of the radical left.

You don't just get to push eight years of race-baiting lies about the president and then pull a "never mind!" Let's not pretend otherwise.

And the obvious difference that you fail to discern is.....

he is much more dangerous than all of those Democrats you mentioned...

because his cheetoh stain will spread across and destroy the Republican Party, and along with it....the conservative movement...which is, by the way, the only movement that has (or had) a chance of saving this nation from sure-fire collapse.

By that means alone Trump is much more dangerous to the American right......thereby handing future victories, possibly all future victories, to the radical American left.

Here's the first sentence of law.com's lengthy definition: Insanity. n. mental illness of such a severe nature that a person cannot distinguish fantasy from reality, cannot conduct her/his affairs due to psychosis, or is subject to uncontrollable impulsive behavior.

Biulds an eight $10 billion company, yet he's insane?

Who is really insane here? The owner of a $10 billion empire, or the one casting aspersions?

I forgot to mention: I guess insanity is no barrier to winning the Republican presidential nomination, either.

How so?  I don't get the "destroy the brand" argument, perhaps because I really don't buy into the legacy argument that one election transfers to the next anyway. Richard Nixon's rotten Presidency didn't destroy the GOP even though it had already been a couple of decades since we controlled Congress.  Post-Reagan, non-conservative Republican candidates didn't destroy either the GOP or conservatism.  And it is pretty widely known that the GOP Establishment is not fond of Trump, so the association between him and the party is probably the weakest of any major party candidate in the last century.

For the swing voters in the middle, they vote for the candidate not the party anyway.  The vast majority of voters will judge whomever the Republicans run after Trump will be judged on his/her own merits, not on Trump's.

For those celebrating...."Remember these things when he turns on you."  Whatever tactics one finds acceptable, by whatever scale you chose to measure and apply to others, be prepared to live by them yourself.  Fair warning.  When Trump slanders and smears and tricks and mocks you, it was YOU, Trump supporter, who celebrated it.  Prepare to take your medicine.

Give it up. You're on the losing end of this, and anyone with any sense knows it.

Yes.  Short term benefit is assured.

But this ain't over, myst.   It brings up all the racist arguments against Trump.  Not a good time for this to come up for him, when Hillary was weakened.

Once again Trump pulled the focus away from Hillary.  I agree dissing the media is funny, but he will pay for it.  Remember how the media decided to go after Sarah Palin.  They came up with a plan and executed it pretty much as one voice.
For instance, the media could decide that ignoring Trump is better than chasing his every pronouncement, he'll lose all the free publicity and he'll lose a pipeline to communicate with his supporters.  Replacing either or both of those things will cost money and time.

He got the media for 30 minutes, but they will pound him with that question and give him no opportunity to talk about his message.  Seems a high cost.

I marvel at the cognitive dissonance that cheers the fact Trump has "played" and deceived the media into doing something they would otherwise NOT do, and somehow these same people think that Trump is not doing the same thing to them.

Amazing how many put faith in a proven manipulator who spends more time talking about himself and his hotels and accomplishments than anything else.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Republican candidates didn't destroy either the GOP or conservatism.

I take issue with this statement.  George Herbert Walker Bush did indeed do a great deal of damage to the conservative movement.
