Representative Rooney Wants Government Funding for Army Corps
by Daniel Molina

Florida Congressman Tom Rooney (R), representing Florida’s 17th district, gave a speech on September 14th in front of the House Rules Committee and the Republican Conference to discuss his proposal to change the House Rules for the 115th Congress. Said proposal, H.Res.813, “would amend the House Rules to exclude existing or proposed water source development projects of the Army Corps of Engineers from the definition of a Congressional earmark,” as his press release explained.

The release goes on to discuss that his proposal would be the first act in limiting executive branch power in order “to restore Congress’ constitutional authority to direct funds to important flood control, damn safety and water infrastructure projects funded by the Army Corps of Engineers.”

I think they meant "dam" safety, but maybe they didn't...

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
