Russia's Military Industrial Company (VPK) has developed an unmanned variant of its VPK-33115 Tigr-M light utility vehicle armed with a 30 mm automatic cannon.
The unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) was unveiled at the Army 2016 defence exhibition held outside Moscow.
Speaking to IHS Jane's at Army 2016 a company spokesperson said that "VPK has developed the unmanned Tigr-M in conjunction with the 766th Management Production and Processing Equipment (UPTK) JSC. The vehicle has received a remote control weapon station (RCWS) armed with a 30 mm Shipunov 2A72 cannon and a 7.62 mm Kalashnikov PKTM coaxial machinegun. The fire control system and the structure of the RCWS are unified with the unmanned turret of the Uran-9 robotic system developed by the 766th UPTK. The new vehicle is fully unmanned, as it can search, detect, track, and eliminate targets in automatic mode. At present, it is successfully passing fire and manoeuvre trials. We suppose that Russia's Ministry of Defence will show its interest in the unmanned Tigr-M."
