Chicago Receives $1M In Fed Taxpayer Funds to Create 'Urban Farming'(CNSNews.com) - The city of Chicago will be hiring an agricultural coordinator using some of its taxpayer funding from a million dollar federal grant.Chicago will receive the funds through the U.S. Agriculture Department’s (USDA) Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) program."The Conservation Innovation Grant program is a highly competitive conservation grant program that helps put the very best conservation tools to work on privately held farms and forests, for maximum environmental impact," said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack in a press release [1].
