It was a measured, if not aggressively tepid, reaction from a man not known for treating opponents gently. But it’s another sign of Cuomo’s approach to the national election, in which he endorsed Clinton ahead of the April 19 primary — in pointed contrast to a long and ill-conceived hold-out by the governor's chief Democratic antagonist, Mayor Bill de Blasio — but has since shied away from criticizing the Republican nominee by name.
