I agree she is a mess.
If you think about it. She marries a guy who is a serial liar and cheat. She spends her whole life holding onto his coattails in order to be near power and ultimately to become powerful. The whole world sees how little regard her husband has for her at the pinnacle of their life's ambition. She is so corrupted by her pursuit of power and money that she sells influence to the highest bidders while she is Sect. of State. Who knows what powerful people and countries have leverage over her. I wouldn't be surprised if the only way she can get sleep is through drugs or lots of alcohol.
Imagine the fear she has of being cast aside in the traditional liberal way. Thats what I think haunts her. And the root of her stress. She stepped on literally everyone she ever encountered on the way up. Now the Ice Queen is noticing that it's awful hot outside. She knows that even if she wins, she's on borrowed time politically and probably lifewise.
And she will suffer knowing that in the end, she was in fact, no more important than any other leftist tool. For a soulless being like her, it is more torturous than the prospect of ANYTHING else.
