During a visit to his hometown of Detroit on Saturday, Ben Carson hailed Donald Trump’s tax plan, likening it to former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal.

Carson, speaking in front of his childhood home, told CNN that Trump would bring “billions of dollars that are overseas” into the country and use some of it to invest in poor communities.

“Really what that does is twofold,” Carson said. “First of all it would be the biggest stimulus package since FDR’s New Deal. Number two, it gets businesses corporations once again interested in reaching out to the communities and helping people in the communities.”

Trump visited Detroit on Saturday, attending services at a black church and conducting an interview with a pastor.

I won't be here after the election and vote.

If Hillary wins - I will be busy, BLOAT! (It won't be long before she won't let you buy.)

If Trump wins, I won't be here to GLOAT. (I don't want to hang around while everyone looks at every speck in his eye.)

Wow, is Carson trying to hurt Trump, actually believes the New Deal is a good thing, or just ignorant?  I assume by his education it isn't the last one.

Let's take the 'bring billions of dollars from overseas' as an example: (I assume he means businesses who set up shop overseas due to our restrictive tax and regulation system).

First and foremost, it shows the common liberal fallacy that money is the government's first with which to then distribute to the people in a way it deems best for the people. They believe if a business is doing what it can to remain profitable, including moving away from regressive tax systems, that is stealing from the people and it is the government's job to 'make that right'.

Did he just endorse more hopelessness and welfare?
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Yep... nothing like a dose of socialism coming form the so called GOP candidate.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

That's where the next part of the quote comes into play where we know he isn't talking about just making it friendly for businesses here:

Quote
..... use some of it to invest in poor communities....

That clearly shows that it is being confiscated (taxes, fees, regulations) by the government and redistributed through some sort of social engineering. You notice that he isn't talking about making it friendly and profitable for businesses to bring their money back and grow in these communities, no, he is talking about direct redistribution.

There is very little in that quote that would be different than what Bernie Sanders promises.

Or maybe a direct correlation, it is right in line with the EU's attacks on Apple for moving some of their manufacturing Ireland to avoid taxes and the EU trying to penalize them for that.

Putting money into the community is giving it to corrupt Democratic officials of which they elected and leads to more "New Deal".   Oh so funny we should coin Trump as the "New Deal" candidate of stagnation.

I remember this from a few months ago and applies even more with statements like Carson's.

Trump is promising the opposite of Reagan, he is promising a huge government to solve problems.

@AbaraXas

When I use to post at Free Republic, I use to ask how Trump's expanding the federal government would work were other's have failed. The most common reply was, since he ran and grew a big business, he would be successful when doing so as president
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

On May 9, 1939, FDR's own Treasury Secretary, Henry Morganthau, called the New Deal a failure,

I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started. … And an enormous debt to boot!
You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality.
