Trump surrogate admits falsifying biographical claims

Quote
Washington (CNN)A top Donald Trump surrogate admitted to falsifying some of his professional accomplishments after a contentious confrontation with CNN anchor Victor Blackwell.
South Carolina preacher Mark Burns, who regularly introduces Trump at his campaign events, had listed on his church's website that he had a Bachelor of Science degree and served six years in the Army Reserve.

Burns, however, was never in the Army Reserve. He was in the South Carolina National Guard, from which he was discharged in 2008, CNN found.
As far as a Bachelor's degree, North Greenville University told CNN he only attended the school for one semester. Burns admitted that he did not finish his degree when CNN asked him about it.

Trump surrogate admits falsifying biographical claims

So his BS degree was BS and he falsely claimed to have spent 6 years in the Army Reserve?

I have no sympathy for lying Trump supporters.

Somehow I find such behavior typical of many Trump supporters.  Trump himself has been accused of leading people to believe he has a masters degree from the Wharton School of Business.  Sounds like Trump supporters emulate their idol.

Lying about a degree is one thing.  Lying about military service is another.

There is no dishonor in having served in the National Guard.  Quite the contrary, it is an honorable thing to do.   I can't imagine why he would lie instead of proudly proclaiming his service.

I find this sad.  He supported Trump so the Liberal Media had to dig up the dirt and humiliate him.  How dare a black Pastor support a Republican, much less the evil Trump.  Granted, there was a skeleton there, but was this public humiliation really necessary?

I know.  I know.  It shows that Trump didn't vet him and plays to his decision-making skills or lack thereof, but the man is a Pastor that introduces Trump, not his foreign policy expert.

I suspect this may backfire on CNN.  I doubt I am the only human on earth that is saddened by this.
It is sad, but first off, most conservatives have little sympathy for someone who inflates their level of military service. If those credentials were misstated by someone else, then that may be forgivable, but if the person inflated their service record to appear they had done more or different, it's on them.
Second, I have a Bachelor of Science degree. I started to work on a Master's Degree but never completed that, for a number of reasons which happened to hit at once. I don't claim a MS, because I never earned it, only the BS degree.

We have little patience with stolen valor, and we should have none with 'stolen' academic credentials, either. If he had been a liberal and a Hillary staffer and a white guy, he would have been fair game for the conservative media had he (or someone on the staff) made claims of service or credentials beyond what he actually had as well.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Appears to be just a case of one phony supporting another phony.  One wonders ....if this 'preacher' feels the need to lie about his military service and academic qualifications....

what 'else' is he lying about?  Another phony pretending to be a man of God, perhaps?  (See:  Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton).

Exactly! Be loud and proud about that - the Guard is not somehow "inferior" to the reserve (rather the opposite in my book - the Guard do a tricky and delicate job very well indeed!)
