What Religion Would Jesus Belong To?

Nicholas Kristof SEPT. 3, 2016

ONE puzzle of the world is that religions often don’t resemble their founders.

Jesus never mentioned gays or abortion but focused on the sick and the poor, yet some Christian leaders have prospered by demonizing gays. Muhammad raised the status of women in his time, yet today some Islamic clerics bar women from driving, or cite religion as a reason to hack off the genitals of young girls. Buddha presumably would be aghast at the apartheid imposed on the Rohingya minority by Buddhists in Myanmar.

“Our religions often stand for the very opposite of what their founders stood for,” notes Brian D. McLaren, a former pastor, in a provocative and powerful new book, “The Great Spiritual Migration.”

That's easy.

The one He founded.

Yeshua does not belong to religion. Religion belongs to Him.

The one He founded.

Nah.  He wouldn't worship himself.

He'd still be Jewish.

Would?

He was well-documented to be Jewish. He was a harsh critic of the leadership of his time, but make no mistake about it, he was Jewish. Even the first few people to worship him, such as Peter, were Jewish. It wasn't until Paul started preaching to other groups that Christianity broke from Judaism.

Matthew 5:17 KJ21   “Think not that I am come to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
Jesus didn't Need to talk about every sin we could possibly commit. Sin is sin. Ha was not wanted by the Jews. He was the Son of God. The Messiah. The never accepted that. And their leaders had a hand in his crucifixion.
Religion isn't what Jesus was about. He is about a new way is life. The best!
“Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children's children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.”
― Theodore Roosevelt

Jesus doesn't belong to any religion. Religion is a man made corporation. Selling tainted goods.

Well, if anybody is of a mind to find out, the last half of Ezekiel tells quite a bit about religion when the Prince walks in Jerusalem.

And it ain't anything like Christian.
And it ain't Rabbinic Judaism either.

God does not need a religion.  Religion needs Him.

It reads like Kristof really doesn't understand Jesus or religion.
