September 2, 2016

By Maurice Tamman and Chris Kahn

(Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has pulled into an effective tie with Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, erasing a substantial deficit as he consolidated support among his party’s likely voters in recent weeks, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos national tracking poll released Friday.

The poll showed 40 percent of likely voters supporting Trump and 39 percent backing Clinton for the week of Aug. 26 to Sept. 1. Clinton's support has dropped steadily in the weekly tracking poll since Aug. 25, eliminating what had been a eight-point lead for her.

Trump's gains came as Republican support for their party’s candidate jumped by six percentage points over the past two weeks, to about 78 percent. That is still below the 85 percent Mitt Romney enjoyed.....

Trump's support has stayed steady in the high 30s, low 40s;  Clinton has dropped.

Her supporters have NOT gone to Trump, so any excitement is premature.  They will come back to her because they have nowhere else to go.

Not true...there are multiple alternatives available to Democrats including Trump.

Jill Stein?  Stein flew into the wrong airport on Thursday.

They will come back to Clinton because Trump will continue stepping in it between now and election day and crazy is scarier than corrupt.

Reuters/Ipsos Poll: Donald Trump Overtakes Hillary Clinton — Despite Altered Methodology

http://www.breitbart.com/2016-presidential-race/2016/09/02/reutersipsos-poll-donald-trump-overtakes-hillary-clinton-despite-altered-methodology/

Note also that this development comes after Reuters/Ipsos changed its methodology months ago… once Trump overtook Clinton in a dramatic 17-point swing.

I saw that ... and I'm holding my breathe.  Hoping we can get past the fraud in Northern VA.  Fingers are crossed!

Stein is not being taken seriously because of her beliefs contrary to the Democrats' view of "science" (GMO paranoia, vaccines, etc.).

Or perhaps it's because of that altered methodology.

But hey, Breitbart's boss is a Trump employee now.

As more is learned about Hillary's many scandals, problems, hopefully more of Hillary's supporters will switch to Jill Stein (if not to Trump).

Jill Stein is really the "principled" choice for hardcore leftists. Gary Johnson is another choice, since he embraces most of the left's positions, too.

Choices, choices. It is not all about Trump. It is not even all about the Republican candidate (GOP).

Now that this is a "political forum." Think of the avenues that open, to "grow the forum."

It has been a horrible news cycle over that the last two weeks for Hillary regarding her e-mails. I think the scandal is finally breaking through to the people that don't pay a lot of attention to the news.  And Trump during the same time has made a noticeable pivot somehow keeping his pie-hole from getting him into trouble.

From my non-Trump supporting point of view the election may be closer than I and many others predicted. The first debate will paint a clearer picture of how this may go.

GOP Briefing Room a misnomer? Couldn't be....

Add in the October Surprise from Russia, and it's not going to be easy for Hillary.

Note that this poll is likely voters.  They tend to trend more toward Trump.
