In compliance with an international ban on chemical weapons, the Army will begin the breakdown of over 780,000 artillery shells filled with mustard agent next week.
The shells will be dismantled at the military’s Pueblo Chemical Depot in Colorado, a $4.5 billion automated plant that can dismantle up to 500 shells a day.
An article in the Ottawa Citizen says the job will be finished in mid-2020.
