Second: If I'm visiting NYC, I sure as heck don't want to stay in a hotel where my next door neighbors possibly include the mentally ill or addicted who comprise much of the homeless population. I wouldn't feel safe. Does Travelocity or hotels.com tell you in advance that if you book the Excelsior, for example, that's a possibility?
