Trump vows 'no amnesty, but we work with' illegal immigrants

Donald Trump promised there will be "no amnesty" for illegal immigrants during his presidency, even as he continues to ease up on his approach to tackling the issue of how to handle the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

Trump was asked during an appearance on Fox News's "Hannity" slated to air Wednesday night about his initial pledge to deport those in the U.S. illegally and if he'd include an exception for those who have proven to be "a fair citizen."

"No citizenship. Let me go a step further – they'll pay back-taxes, they have to pay taxes, there's no amnesty, as such, there's no amnesty, but we work with them," Trump responded.

I'm not quite sure how he can handle that amount of cognitive dissonance and still be able to stand up.  Must be the stupidity.  "Amnesty" in this case means not enforcing the existing immigration laws against those who are currently here illegally, and in particular, it consists of not deporting every illegal alien.

Trump used to say he would deport every illegal alien.  Now he's saying that there will be an exception to deportation for someone who has proven to be a "fair citizen."  In other words, Trump will not deport every illegal alien.  That is amnesty, by definition.

So yes, dear Trumpkins, Trump is now in favor of amnesty.

Contrast that with Cruz's position that when identified illegals will be returned to their country of origin. Criminals (including those who broke the law to get into the US) wouldn't be allowed to immigrate to the US. Period. Forget about going to the end of the line. They don't even get in the line.
