Trump improves in new WORLD survey

Evangelical insiders are split over support of the Republican presidential nominee

WASHINGTON—Only 22 percent of respondents in WORLD’s evangelical insiders survey said they backed Donald Trump in the days after he locked up the Republican nomination for president in May—but 48 percent said they would consider him if he vowed to nominate a pro-life Supreme Court justice.

It looks like they meant it.

Now that Trump has released a pro-life Supreme Court short list, 44 percent of respondents in WORLD’s latest survey say they plan to vote for the billionaire businessman in November. The showing is by far Trump’s best out of 11 surveys, although 48 percent say they still plan to write in a name or not vote at all.

The findings are part of a regular survey of 103 evangelical leaders and influencers that WORLD began in July 2015. Seventy-three participated this month. The results are not scientific or representative of all evangelicals but provide a glimpse into how some are leaning in the 2016 presidential race.

..

“Voters are starting to recognize strong leadership as a mandate for this country at this time,” said [Janet] Parshall, an author and nationally syndicated radio host. “Hillary Clinton’s tattered record of ‘pay for play’ [foreign policy] and missing emails continues to call into account her judgment to lead.”

...

Parshall believes Trump holdouts have a lack of knowledge about the American political system.

They may as well have conducted a poll about who likes chocolate ice cream.

Mech ahhhhhhhh,  I mean unknown,  do you even read your own posted stories?     These numbers are not exactly favorable to Trump.

44 percent of respondents in WORLD’s latest survey say they plan to vote for the billionaire businessman in November. 44 percent of the polled evangelicals who almost without question vote the down-ticket Republican is a disturbingly low number.

Then there's this:

The showing is by far Trump’s best out of 11 surveys, although 48 percent say they still plan to write in a name or not vote at all.

Yea, I read it. Do you understand the context? It says improves: Went from 22% to 44%!  That's a 100% improvement in one month.

I see glass one quarter full, now near one half, and rising. You see glass still empty, but you won't admit that it has risen in one month.

Alert/unknown, you do realize this is not a positive survey, right?  It shows that Trump has fewer than 50% of the evangelical vote (43.8%). Romney got 78% of the evangelical vote. http://www.newsmax.com/US/romney-evangelical-vote-obama/2012/11/07/id/463268/

It also shows 29% will vote for a third party or not vote at all.

Also in the details of this poll, 74% indicated Trump could lose their vote if he changes positions. 84% of those who said they wouldn't vote for him said nothing could change their mind.

When it gets down to it, this is a devastating poll.

This highlights a major difference, I see optimism, you see pessimism. I see what can be, you see what can't be. I see America as being Great, and you see America as being destroyed. I see "hope and change," you see despair and status quo.

If I see what you see, I would be angry also. If I see what you see, I would lash out at those that offer hope. If I see what you see, I would be a drag also.
