Trump postpones immigration speech
« on: August 22, 2016, 10:29:54 pm »
Donald Trump is postponing a major immigration speech he was set to deliver Thursday in Colorado as his campaign continues to fine-tune his immigration policy.
The decision came after Trump, whose hardline immigration policies appealed to many GOP primary voters, met Saturday with his Hispanic advisory council and said in an interview Monday morning that he wants to "come up with a really fair, but firm" immigration policy.

Trump denied in an interview Monday morning on Fox News that he was "flip-flopping" on the issue of illegal immigration.
A Trump campaign source said the campaign decided to push back Trump's immigration speech as it is still fine-tuning its immigration policy and the speech's language.

In other words, trying to figure out what lies to tell the Trumpkins so they don't think Trump's just flipped to pro-amnesty.

They must word it in a way as to fool the fools about what he just said.

Makes you wonder if the three or four different messages the campaign sent this weekend was sending feelers out for a pivot and they are now having to adapt to the reaction to it. I have little doubt he will move sharply left on this issue as he moves back to his position before this campaign. They just have to massage and coordinate the message based on the reaction over the weekend. It would be funny if he ends up pivoting to the left of McCain/Kennedy.

Just so we can set a baseline to compare, here are the highlights of McCain/Kennedy that everyone pretty much agreed was an amnesty disaster.

Temporary visa program for those here provided illegal immigrants pay a $1500 fine and have a current place of employment.
Expanded visa programs for new workers.
Ease the process for legal immigration through improved visa program.
Nationwide eVerify program.
Increase funding to State and Local law enforcement for enforcement of immigration laws. Triple the number of ICE officers.
Expedited return of criminal aliens (those convicted of felonies)
Completion of secure fence program plus comprehensive border security protection.
'Back of the line' pathway to citizenship for those who pass a background check and pay a fine.
Expedited program for families and children to obtain legal status.

That's all we really need right there plus more penalties for employing them.
