I'll say it: Nickelback. :-P
No, no, he said UNDERrated, not overrated.

I think this post is limited to music.

I think we have a consensus on that. Any further rable rousing from bolobaby will not be tolerated!    :police:

I always thought Stone Temple Pilots were underrated.

I've been a big fan of the Kinks since I was a kid,  and I've long maintained they aren't as "well respected men" as they deserve to be.

Agreed.  The Kinks were punk before punk was cool.  But underrated?  They were very big.

Re: Nickelback...

I just think they get an unfair bad rap. :-P
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

I vote for "The Move", the forerunners of ELO.

Agreed!

The whole album

I LOVED Wet Willie back in the early 70's. They put on a hell of a live show.

My List to kick things off.

Deep Purple.

Spirit

Uriah Heep

The Tubes

Moving to the 80's
----------------

Tears for Fears

Ah Ha

Saying most of those bands were underrated is like saying Little Feat was overrated while Lowell George was still alive.

BTW,I saw Uriah Heep live in concert 7 times, and those were 7 of the best concerts I ever saw. They, the original Marshall Tucker Band, and Lynard Skynard were about as good as it gets.

Little Feat

Little Feat underrated????

I guess you didn't hear about Led Zepplin getting kicked out of a hotel during their first US tour for playing Little Feat albums too loud, and Jimmy Page saying they were his favorite group?

  • Hey Moe, I'm tryin' to think but nothin' happens!
    • My homepage over on FR, if things continue as current I may find a new host.
I'll throw out "Focus" for discussion.

That tune "Hocus Pocus" is pretty awesome, but I'd be hardpressed to name another song of theirs.

I'll just toss this one out because I am very fond of him, and he is a fellow Texan:

Junior Brown plays "Surf Medley"

"Do right, and risk the consequences" -- Old Sam Houston

"A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."
--George Washington

I tend to say what I think, sometimes before I think.

And, as always, my opinions are worth exactly what you pay for them.

OK,not sure this is fair because she is current and HAS to be destined to becoming one of the greats of all time. I never heard of her in my life before a couple weeks ago, when I clicked on this video to observe the insanity. Boy was *I* wrong!. The song she plays just doesn't compute with a violin, and she absolutely nails it.

Flat out,if your jaw doesn't drop in amazement, there is something wrong with you.

And the other, and more popular, "Surf Medley."

I don't know who Chris Issac's mama is,but I'm betting she knew Roy Orbinson.

I agree. I had never even suspected something like that was possible. Pure freaking genius.

Ok,this guy ain't exactly what you would call unknown to blues guitar geeks, but I'm going to do a favor for the people who have never heard of him and list a few of his songs.

BTW,Link Wray has been identified, rightly or wrongly, with inventing feedback playing when he had his Link Wray and he Wraymen group back in 1955 or so.

Keep in mind that Link Wray was pushing this stuff out in the 50's,when Pat Boone was big.

I am a huge fan of Melody Gardot. It doesn't get any smoother than her.

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
