Sweden introduces six-hour work day

Employers across the country including retirement homes, hospitals and car centres, are implementing the change

Sweden is moving to a six-hour working day in a bid to increase productivity and make people happier.

Employers across the country have already made the change, according to the Science Alert website, which said the aim was to get more done in a shorter amount of time and ensure people had the energy to enjoy their private lives.

Toyota centres in Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city, made the switch 13 years ago, with the company reporting happier staff, a lower turnover rate, and an increase in profits in that time.

Also helps to leave the office when it's still light out so they won't get attacked by the Muslims.

And with a 30 hour work week, do the Swedes enjoy their 25% cut in pay from their former 40 hour week?

As a practical matter, I believe they were already at about 35 hours.

On the positive side, Scandinavian countries enjoy incomes about equal to Americans, better health care and educations, they are happy. They have low political corruption.

When the political left in America argues for greater "socialism" they do NOT have Venezuela, No. Korea and Cuba in mind  in mind for examples. They have Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark in mind.

In the second half of the 1800s, Scandinavia sent about 25% of its citizens to North America. They left over economic struggles, religious belief restricted to one state church, etc.

As a result, Scandinavia reformed itself. Agree or disagree, they think themselves to be successful. Sweden for instance says they have avoided wars for over 200 years.

Of course they have had the advantage until recently, of a largely homogenous population.

That's all over now.

From these statistics, it appears Sweden is being overrun by Finns. All is not lost.

You have to look at the after-tax and stuff income. They are actually behind.

And very high taxes.  Homogeneous population definitely helps, but it's rather fragile, given how quickly it's beginning to break down with the influx of the current immigrants.  And their rate of suicide is not materially different from that of the U.S.
