“I had a 40-year-old sister who passed away from heroin, and I’m hoping that the message I give today is, if you can just get to one person you can make a difference,” she said.

“My sister was the most normal person, you would never have known,” she added. “She passed away from heroin on July 1, 2014. Her fiance passed away from heroin on Feb. 14, 2014. She was clean all the way up until the night before… She just did one dose, there was barely a trace in her system, but it was enough. So my message is — it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been going, all it takes is one hit.”
