Independent candidate Evan McMullin gets on first state ballot

Evan McMullin has gotten on his first state ballot days after announcing his late independent presidential bid, his campaign announced late Thursday.

McMullin will appear on the ballot in Colorado in November, according to a statement from chief strategist Joel Searby.

“Colorado is the first of many states to come as our ballot access program kicks in to high gear and Evan takes his message nationwide," Searby said.

McMullin has said his campaign plans to get on "a broad number of state ballots across the country," despite deadlines having passed in many states.

His campaign insisted in a memo on Thursday that he "enters this campaign with the means to compete in every state."

A top priority, the campaign said, is getting on ballots in 15 states that have ballot-access deadlines on or after Aug. 15.

I hope he makes the ballot in my state.

I believe that there are only 13 states that the window of opportunity has not passed; all the rest of the states, the deadlines are already passed.  I wish there was a way to stop both Hillary and Trump, but realistically, one of them will be seated.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

He has an uphill battle to say the least.

The chances of him or any third party candidate from preventing Hillary and Trump from getting the electoral votes to win is razor thin at best, but you know it does make it easier for us who will "vote or conscience" if a good alternative was on the ballot, rather than writing a name in.

I won't attempt to sway you, but he won't get my vote. Not with the likes of Rick Wilson playing a major role in his campaign.

I agree.  Totally.
