None of the dire events predicted by the chicken littles ever happened. Not one.

You never heard "the government is recording phone calls"??

Still, I don't think there's anything to this.

They are recording phone calls. All phone calls. Selective enforcement is what allows the illegality to continue unquestioned and unnoticed.

So if it turned out to be true that a bunch of bureaucrats in the fed. gov. were monitoring phone calls, what do you think they would do....if anything?
What if they were actually able to monitor half the phone calls (assuming the people monitored are all conservative Republicans) what do think they could do with this info? Imprison half the population of the country? Which would include many current and ex military people and many people in law enforcement who have guns.
What do you think they'd be able to do?
The answer is.....NOTHING!!!
Because, believe it or not, there are plenty of people who vote for Dems who would also oppose this.
The truth some extreme liberals would love to be able to throw people in prison for thinking incorrect thoughts, but their numbers are too few, and they have no actual power to do anything but think evil thoughts.

We've already seen the result. The feds are so overwhelmed with the data they collect that they can't pick out real threats and stop them now.

If Obama cancels the presidential election, who will stop him?
By Lloyd Marcus

Many of you have heard the conspiracy theory that Black Lives Matter and other paid thug protest groups will cause so much chaos in the streets that Obama will use it as an excuse to cancel the presidential election and remain president.  I do not think that will happen.

However, I asked my wife Mary a rhetorical question: "If Obama did cancel the election, who would stop him?"  Folks, the terrifying answer which we all know is "no one."  For eight years, even after we gave Republicans control of the House and Senate, the GOP has allowed Obama to break the law and ignore the Constitution at will.  Congress has ignored their power of the purse and funded everything Obama has decreed.  Senate majority leader Republican Mitch McConnell said that no matter what Obama does, impeachment is off the table.

It's not going to happen.  A "deal" has been struck between Barry and Hillary (based on Hillary's blackmailing of Barry, no pun intended) and no amount of wishing or hoping or thinking will stop Hillary from becoming the next president of the USA....short of divine intervention, that is.
No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

The point is, to have EVERYTHING on file.  Then, when someone politically objectionable to the Left comes into prominence, search tools can research the huge mounds of data to pull out all that's known about that person - and use it for a politically-driven persecution/prosecution.

They're not the slightest BIT interested in stopping domestic terrorism strikes.  Hell, the heroes of this Administration ARE terrorists - Billy Ayers, remember?  Bernadine Dohrn?

This is about being able to attack any of us at will.  If one of us are in an area where drug sales are known, and there are public cameras...as we buy a dime-bag of Colombian...nobody cares.  But our car license plate, and face, are filed away...to be dug out at a future date, should the buyer become inconvenient somehow to the powers that be.

True of phone calls and mail sent...yes, ALL mail is digitally photographed now...it's true of every activity in daily life.

Many people from both sides of the political spectrum tend to believe the other side is constantly concocting evil schemes by evil geniuses to subdue or crush the other side.
My own view is more harm is done by simple human incompetence.  Never ascribe evil intentions by super intelligent people to bad results that were probably more the result of human stupidity rather than well thought out plans/schemes.

Absolutely no guts in you at all, eh?

Giving up without a fight is not the way this country was founded.

This country was not founded via the ballot box either.

'Fighting' for the country has been relegated to casting a ballot and praying for a stacked court in their favor.

We've grown accustomed to tyranny and lie to ourselves we are free.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

We are free....it's just that many of the people we choose to govern us are dolts or petty fascists. Not being free means you can't leave a bad situation. We can certainly do that. When the gov. says you cannot leave the country and enforces it at the point of a gun, then you are not free.

The real issue here is Obama has no reason to do this. I think he is largely a useful mouthpiece who reads what his handlers put on the Teleprompter. The real decisions are made farther down the lowerarchy and a switch in their mouthpiece has been planned for a long time.

The Founders would disagree with that assessment.

They asserted that a 3% tax on tea and a blockade to force Colonists to buy tea the Crown had financial interest in, was not being free.

They asserted that taxation without representation was not being free.

They asserted that being ignored by their government for redress of grievances being imposed by the crown was not being free.

We suffer far more meddlesome tyranny than they ever did.

Today the government has forced us to buy healthcare insurance they regulated and have a financial interest in.

Our government holds us in contempt, exempts themselves from laws they impose on the rest of us and work to undermine our representation via career politicians and lobbying groups.

We cannot do as we wish with our own property, or we risk agents of the federal government to impose policy by force with guns put to your head.

We cannot buy or sell without the stamp of approval and a cut of the profits from the Beast at Mordor on the Potomac.

Shall I go on and list all the evidence that more than illustrates that we are not free?

Or is it in your estimation that until we are in camps behind razor wire that we can finally state we are not free?

Today's neo-peasants reject freedom.  They crave only a just master - who promises to plunder others, whoever "others" are, on their behalf.

The logical fallacies in that view, abound.  And so today's neo-peasants are feeling the ever-tightening yoke on their necks.

This is Alex Jones ass-clownery. Conservatism is drawing deeper and deeper into this sort of kookery. No wonder we lose election. We're all dumber for having read this nonsense. Thanks OP.

People think this is tin foil hat stuff, but the phone monitoring is real.
It goes through some sort of process where it listens for key words like "kill" and pulls them out for review.
So some guy says "I think I killed my lawnmower engine by running it too rich."
That gets flagged, and nothing happens, but so many get flagged that they can't keep up.
That is why the new version of the re-authorization of the patriot act was to slim down the traffic to more targeted assessments, not little old ladies talking about how they may have killed their roses by not trimming them back in time for winter.

It is something Rubio and Cruz were going back and forth on during the debate.
Rubio was for more of the mass data collection, and Cruz was for more of the targeted variety.
The plus is you can target those you think have jihadi ties, and streamline the process to make it more effective.
The minus is, who decides who gets targeted?

We've seen how the IRS operates, and Homeland Security has said that white christian male veterans are a bigger threat the jihadist.

Face it folks, we are all being monitored to one degree or another.

:amen: In my sixty plus years I've hear about one million conspiracy theories or predictions of things that were sure to happen. None of the dire events predicted by the chicken littles ever happened. Not one.
A recent one was my lib stepdaughter and her husband who were sure that if Dubya won his second term in 2004, he was going to draft all people under 20, including females, for the Iraq War. They had made plans to escape to Canada when that sure thing occurred. Well, they never had to go to Canada.
Another one was the prediction in 2008 by a co-worker that Dubya was going to negate the 2008 election results and declare martial law if Obama won.  I'm sort of sorry that one didn't come true.

LOL!  LOVE it.  Thanks for the laugh.  :patriot:
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

I know everyone here is very rational and sees through the nuttery of this conspiracy, but for lurkers who may think it is valid, here is a little exercise for you.

It is a simple exercise. Ask yourself how would Obama pull this off? What are the logistics? Who would be involved? Think about the scope and scale of such an enterprise.

And remember that once more than a handful of people know something it ain't a secret anymore.

And remember that once more than a handful of people know something it ain't a secret anymore.
I used to work with a guy who was convinced all NFL football games were fixed. He was sort of a hothead, and nobody wanted to argue with him. So we just let him rant. But it was irritating to have to listen to him rant about the games.
For all the games to be rigged would involved a conspiracy involving hundreds  of thousands of people over the decades with nobody blabbing. And what for? Why exactly would everybody in the NFL conspire to fix all the games? The NFL makes so much money from just normal operations there is no need to get into gambling to acquire vast wealth.
But that is the mentality of many of the conspiracy people. They never bother to think about the logistics involved and the impossibility of getting many thousands of people to shut up.
But it's pointless to try and argue with them. They're convinced they're right. Like the 9/11 Truthers no amount of facts disproving their pet theories convinces them. They want to believe.
