Trump didn't mention any of those things and never got around to "outlining his plan for America" like he promised to do at the beginning of that whatever it was last night!
The Trump caucus already has their excuse: "Well, neither will Hillary, so shut up."

OK, so WTH?

I watched this thread last night, but not the speech. I appreciated the commentary here.

BUT...

I click over to FoxNews this morning and see the following two headlines:

Quote
Giuliani on Trump: Best acceptance speech I've ever seen

Quote
Gingrich grades Trump's speech: Rivals 'Reagan at his peak'

But then Drudge links NewsBusters, where the headline is:

Quote
Networks on Trump: A 'Dark Speech' From a 'Vengeful' 'Demagogue'

So, are Trumpettes Giuliani and Gingrich really THAT big a sycophant? Seriously?

How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

And a lot of people will also be stupid enough to believe your ridiculous analysis of Trump.  But then others who think clearly would rather have someone who has had two divorces than those whose marriages are a sham and have multiple affairs that are hidden.  Also to understand that business bankruptcies are much different than personal bankruptcies.  It's a red herring you are throwing out.

But then on this thread that is exactly what the mob here demands for their feeding frenzy.

Truly sad.

@billva

Your guy is the nominee.  Why in the hell are you people still so angry?

I suspect it's because there are people who refuse to bend their knee to your messiah and the rest of those registered Democrats who filled the stage last night.   Well, you're going to have to get used to it.

You ask that as if you don't already know the answer.

I watched the speech and was sober so all I can conclude is that they were not!

@LonestarDream
@don-o

I'm still in the Trump realist camp too.  Desperately wishing I could find something about Trump to be for, instead of just being against Hillary.  Last night's speech didn't help.  Nothing truly conservative about it.  He's just gonna be "our" big government guy.  Or at least so he says.  Since I trust him about as much as warm roadside food truck sushi, I can't say I have a clue as to what he's really gonna do if/when he gets to DC

Oh, now that is funny AND original.  I love it.

That said, all of this discussion about what Trump would do or wouldn't do is moot, IMO.  His Wednesday night stunt against Cruz just cemented the distrust and dislike he had already created among Cruz fans.

I had fully resigned myself to vote for him this November, even tho I doubted he would win.  Hell, I was even feeling warm and fuzzy about the convention events, even if not fully 'on board' the orange crazy train.  But Wednesday nite's ambush and setup of Cruz sealed the 'deal' for me.  It proved, in my mind, that nothing had changed since the vicious primary campaign.  Trump was still Trump, IOW.

Instigating boos and assaulting Heidi on their way out is something that only supposedly happens in banana republics and communist nations.  We have officially been fundamentally transformed, already, apparently.  And that's all thanks to liberals (now called leftists).

The last thing we need is to elect yet another liberal to the highest office in the land....even if Trump could win the election, which he can't without the conservative base votes.  He, himself, has managed to eliminate that possibility via his very own hateful rhetoric and actions.  Trump is a tweet-addicted twittering twit and not fit for the office.  He has proven that time and time again, and especially Wednesday night and after, with his insulting tweets about Cruz (he just never knows when to quit the BS).

So....alas, I find myself no longer on the outside of both camps.  I have decided to join the #neverTrump movement.  Why?  Aside from the reasons already listed, I am convinced that at least with a Hillary win, we can and probably will impeach, assuming we retain majority control of both houses.  If not, it's all down the tubes anyway.  And considering how badly the GOP has treated its base in the last couple of years and throughout this primary season, there's not much chance that the GOP will retain that majority control.  So Trump would never be able to do anything he promises anyway.  It would be just another go along while getting along and 'oh well, maybe next election' BS cycle of downward spiral.  No thanks.  Been there, done that to death.

Fighting Hillary would be our only chance, since there would be no will whatsoever to fight Trump, even if he miraculously beat Hillary (fat cankle chance).  So I am now resigned in another direction.  Great work, Donald.  You have earned the loss of yet another vote.

Trumpstablishment allows social conservatives to be mocked at the national convention

Someone needs to gif that! Gif it, gif it good!

@AbaraXas

Last night, I looked at that film of Trump putting his hands on daughter's hips and clicked on the link again just now and someone said look at his expression.  I clicked on the film again and realized Trump first looks down at her breasts, THEN puts his hands on her hips.  I will refrain from suggesting what that film means.  The people commenting on that have it right - that should not have happened, but it did.  It looks as though he has mentally cut out the audience as if they are alone.

I watched Fox News in amazement last night. They are totally off their nut. Ivanka pushes Democrat policies of gender equal pay and government subsidized childcare to cheers. There was a tender inappropriate moment of father-daughter groping then Trump read (badly) from the teleprompter for an eternity- making the most extravagant promises with no plans for how to achieve them. He never once mentioned the Constitution or freedom or liberty and he said all of our problems would be solved immediately and was cheered. It was surreal as is the praise from the pundits.
Principles matter. Words matter.

No I mean the people on the alternate thread here the last three days.

Oh, yeah, lol.  I was right in my earlier post.  "The last three days..."   The presence of this thread on the forum is really bugging you.  You just can't stand it that people are calling that liberal oaf exactly what he is instead of cheering his stupid, authoritarian rant.

Quote
Booing Ted Cruz or anyone else at this type event hardly represents mob, it happens at sports events and large events all the time.

No big deal.

Right, a bunch of men screaming at a woman to try and intimidate her, to the point that security had to get her out of there, is no big deal.  But it's par for the course for some of those Trump supporters.

What's hilarious is that the braying apes were yelling "Goldman Sachs" even as Trump is planning on a liberal Democrat donor from Goldman Sachs for treasury secretary, lol.

Quote
And in reality all the group think here is pretty meaningless also.

LOL

But have a nice evening, as I said earlier I am.

Then why don't you sound like it?  Instead you're angry, choleric, argumentative, ill-tempered, and prickly.

Best quote of the evening.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Trump's Castro-like manifesto tonight made it very certain that there is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE between the GOP, the Democrats OR Hillary.

That HE ALONE can fix the country - and HE can stop corporations from moving out of the country and firing their employees is every bit a Fascist and dictatorial as Benito Mussolini's prescription for Italy in 1922 was.
However, when you compare some of the speeches of Benito in the early 20s with what we heard tonight from Trump - and your hair should stand on end.

I have also compared him to Mussolini the dictator.  It fits.  Trump said, "I am the only one who can fix this."  His whole speech was, "I will" as though he will dictate and it will happen.  How many times did he say, "One day one when I am president, I will ..." and he describes actions only congress can take.  He absolutely thinks he will dictate (as he does with his company) and "x" will happen.  He is dangerous and the sheep don't see it.

Trump isn't interested in an endorsement from Cruz.  What he wants is fealty from the vanquished.

Either Trump has calculated that he doesn't need Cruz's support, or he isn't willing to do what is necessary to earn it.  But either way, Trump and his mob are responsible for the lack of support from the rest of the party.  It's their job to bring the party together by being magnanimous in victory.  They've chosen to be petty and vindictive.

Trump is a legend in his own mind.  He mistakenly thinks that he is the be all, end all superman and gift to America.

Without the conservative base, which includes the Cruz conservatives, he has no chance of beating Hillary.  But then....he knows that....and has known it all along.

This Kabuki Theatre has become a colossal bore.  Think I'll throw a bash on election nite and party like it's 1999.  What the hell.

Decided to take a peek through my facebook feed this morning which is very diverse. Here is a summary of what I saw.

Non political groups that are moderate or have shown no affiliation (mostly middle age)- wow he was wonderful. He will help us. He will force companies to stay.
Political strong conservative leaning- How is he going to do any of this? Too much government. He isn't Hillary. Hold my nose.
Millennials non political- Why is he yelling at me?
Millennials right leaning- This is disturbing on so many levels. Why is everyone cheering that (not sure what they referred to)?
Millennials and younger liberal- Hate hate hate, I don't believe he'll protect lgbt.
Liberals older- If he said this up until now, I could get behind them. He is growing. Glad he is leaving the teabaggers on the side of the road.

Overall, he seemed to do the best among middle aged, non political women.  Older liberals thought this as different than he campaigned on.

Conservatives were very, very split between hating the authortarian attitude to acceptance because he isn't Hillary.

He did the absolute worst among millennials of all political stripes. Politically active on both sides didn't trust him for different reasons.

He seemed to lock in supporters and have some who were on the fence accept to hold their nose because he isn't Hillary. However, he is totally losing the younger vote, even some who liked him before.

Conclusion- I predict no movement in the polls other than normal post convention bounce of around 5 points.

"Fealty" is a word that needs to make a comeback as a reminder of how bad it is.

Fealty is what serfs owed to their lords.
