Pence plugs enthusiasm gap for anti-abortion voters

Anti-abortion leaders were skeptical of Trump, but Pence boosts their faith in GOP ticket.

By Jennifer Haberkorn

Donald Trump’s selection of Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate could finally make anti-abortion voters excited to vote for the Republican ticket.

Pence’s long record of opposition to abortion has energized anti-abortion voters in a way that Trump has not. Pence wrote a bill to defund Planned Parenthood and other family planning clinics nearly a decade ago — long before it became a GOP policy staple — and he has signed numerous restrictions into state law. That gives anti-abortion voters confidence that Trump will be a champion of causes that matter most to them.

“Mr. Trump’s selection of Gov. Mike Pence is an affirmation of the pro-life commitments he’s made and will rally the pro-life grassroots,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, which at one point during the primaries rallied voters to select anyone but Trump.

It helps, especially, if for some reason, the Donald is unable to serve. I ran a tiny poll on my [pro-life, conservative] Twitter; and 78 percent said they would vote for Trump with Pence or they'd think about doing so. The remainder said no.
America needs no words from me to see how your decision in Roe v. Wade has deformed a great nation. The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. Human rights are not a privilege conferred by government. They are every human being's entitlement by virtue of his humanity. The right to life does not depend, and must not be declared to be contingent, on the pleasure of anyone else, not even a parent or a sovereign. -Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Doesn't change things for me.  Trump is what he is, and I'll never vote for him.

It shouldn't change things for any conservative.  Trump remains a liberal poseur who appeals to the most gullible.

Vote for baby killers.  If that's gullible, I'll take my chances than siding with murderers.

I'll give a dang about it, I'm sorry, so called conservatives just make jokes about others.

At least, this separates the posers who claim to be social conservatives.

And so called conservatives are those gullible enough to deem lifelong liberal Donald Trump a viable Republican candidate and not the liberal poseur that his record reveals him to be.

Hannity on THE WALL: "Is Mexico going to pay for it?"

Pence: "Absolutely."

This is the same Pence who condemned Trump for his advocating a wall.

This is the same Pence who condemned Trump for saying we should ban muslims from entering the country.

Pence is a sellout and like his liberal running mate cannot be trusted.

No, this is America.  We have a right to opinions Bub.

Besides Pence towers over some Senators who are all words with nothing to show for it, who whore themselves out as Conservatives for a few pieces of silver.

The man has stood on the side of life, has concrete accomplishments in this, unlike Cruz, et. others.

No, he's not a sellout, we in America have a right to differing opinions, that's the first amendment.

Criticisms of a true pro-lifer and finding these needles in a haystack are deplorable.

Who did these critics support? Some senator who only has words for his record?

Pence may be an OK guy.  But he's already waffling on his previous views in order to line up with Trump.

He's a sellout.

But, even if he weren't, it doesn't matter.  I am #NeverTrump because of the guy at the top.

Fine, side with baby killers or whomever your ideal candidate is, if it is Cruz, his accomplishments for the pro-life movement are only words.

"Sellout", just name calling. Again, pretty despicable to call someone who has worked for the right to life;

What have others done?

He was called to represent his country, if that is selling out, that's too bad.

@Vulcan

Right.

The head of the ticket has been captured on video saying he wouldn't put a stop to partial-birth abortion.  Pence tends toward weakness and has been shown to cave under pressure.   Fairly recently he told people that Trump disgusted him.  But he's apparently so power-hungry that he's willing to sell out and attach himself to a man who contradicts his own beliefs.

So, now we believe Ronald Reagan was pro-abortion because he signed a pro-abortion bill as governor of California. Glad we are so rational here.

At least, Pence has some accomplishments, not like Ted Cruz; yet, a solid pro-lifer like Pence is criticized? And I think the same thing when people are critical of Rick Perry. Perry was a governor and had to make decisions, not just blow hot air like Rand Paul or whomever Senator who is barely in the real world.

Right to Life is your issue. Great. Fight for it. And Pence does appear to be a reliable RIght to Lifer.

But he's compromising on other issues:  the wall and free trade, for starters.  And that demonstrates none of his views seem to be too tightly held.

When it's convenient, throw your principles under the bus.  Pence is a politician, and that's what politicians do.

No, I wasn't talking about Reagan...or Perry, or Paul.

Ultimately what I think of Pence doesn't matter.  There was never a chance I would vote for Trump, regardless.

Do not categorize me as "that is my issue". But that issue shows a lot of integrity. It also shows a lot of responsibility unlike some Senators who can just sit in committee rooms and get little done.

Americans disagree, change their minds and so on.

"Don’t Ever Forget That Mike Pence Threw Religious Liberty Under the Bus"

He's also a proven sellout on amnesty.

"Pence is not the first ambitious politician in Washington, DC to be seduced by the siren song of cheap labor, but his proposal is especially noxious because of its deceptive packaging.

Pence has now joined open borders advocates like Senators Larry Craig and John McCain. But because Pence wants to keep his conservative credentials he must label his plan a “no amnesty” immigration reform despite its stealth amnesty provisions.

The gambit is about as ingenious as McCain and Kennedy insisting their plan is not amnesty because the illegal aliens must pay a fine before getting their work permits and their path to citizenship."

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

Ted Cruz is a true pro-lifer.

Compared to four bankruptcies, using eminent domain to take an old lady's house away, and numerous lawsuits for ripping off contractors?

Cruz is a true pro-lifer: please list the things Ted Cruz has done for the pro-life movement.

This is what Mike Pence has done.

Quote
“Gov. Pence has signed legislation to bring dignity to the unborn and their mothers. Among the pro-life measures signed by Gov. Pence:

Prohibit children from being targeted for abortion on the sole basis of their sex, race, national origin or a potential disability
Provide final dignified disposition of aborted babies so that they aren’t treated as medical waste or used for experiments
Establish health and safety standards are chemical abortion facilities
Provide $1,000 adoption credit for parents
Increase penalties for failure to properly report abortions
Promote umbilical cord donation, an ethical alternative to embryonic stem cell research
Require that abortion doctors document their admitting privileges with the State Department of Health
Increase awareness of positive support for parents of Down syndrome children
Provide information on perinatal hospice to parents who receive an adverse prenatal diagnosis
Increase informed consent measures for women seeking abortions, including full color photos of fetal development printed in informed consent information
Protect consumers from being forced to pay for private insurance plans that include unrestricted abortion coverage

“Gov. Pence brings his pro-life credentials to the Trump presidential ticket. In contrast, Hillary Clinton has sought to expand abortion access and fund the life-ending procedure with our tax dollars. She has a cozy relationship with the abortion industry and cannot be trusted to protect life.

http://www.lifenews.com/2016/07/14/mike-pence-is-a-devoted-pro-life-advocate-who-fought-abortion-time-and-time-again/

Again, concrete actions and accomplishments, not just words as the Senators have.
