Spanish bullfighter gored to death on live TV
« on: July 10, 2016, 07:01:53 pm »
They've voted out doing bull fights in Barcelona at least. I hope they don't take measures against the bull.

Yes, we have bullfighting in the USA, there is no secret about that. Texas and California have legal forms of it, France has a mild form of bullfighting, not as hard on the bull.

I never got it.  How was a "bullfight" a "fight" when the bull always lost?

It's barbaric and should be outlawed like dog fighting and cock fighting.  Only trash cheers this kind of stuff.

It is steeped in the past, I can see how 400 years ago, maybe it was an accepted custom but we live in modern times.

As said, Spain's 2nd city, the Catalonian city of Barcelona has outlawed bullfighting.

More milder forms might be acceptable; one's that don't kill the animal.

Deer/Elk/Buffalo hunting okay? Trout fishing?

Okay if you eat the kill or catch, as I was raised. Simply don't kill or catch more than you will eat.

Seeing how bull fighting is mainly in the Latin American world in the Western hemisphere, it seems a little judgemental and ethnocentric to say "trash" watches it.

No, I lumped it in with cock and dog fighting and I stand by my comment as covering all three.  It's stupid.

Dueling was "tradition" too, once upon a time.

I have never heard of it. I know we have bull riding, but that's a totally different thing and the bulls have a much better win percentage.

I'll find a source for you:

Here we go, it's a pay article but should at least show it does exist.:

Bullfighting in Texas not quite 'bloodless'

LA GLORIA - It was mere moments after the fighting bull entered the ring that it knocked Karla Santoyo, 23, to the ground. Suddenly lying there bloodied, the aspiring matador was staring down 1,000 pounds of horned fury.

So, the article also seems to infer it's not the bloody traditional kind. Hopefully, the Bull is not killed.

They call it in California "bloodless bullfighting", so that must be the keyword, "bloodless" and it occurs in the age-old Portuguese communities there.

I have a few acquaintances here in California, that are Portuguese ancestry. The best home builder in my area, a retired CHP patrolman, a lawyer, and a neighbor woman.

All fine folks.
