Ruth Bader Ginsburg: If Trump wins, time to move to New Zealand

By Cyra Master

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg jokes that if Donald Trump wins the presidential election, she’ll consider moving.

In an interview with The New York Times published Sunday, the Supreme Court justice said her husband, who died in 2010, would have said, “‘Now it’s time for us to move to New Zealand.’”

“I can’t imagine what the country would be with Donald Trump as our president,” she said. “For the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be — I don’t even want to contemplate that.”

Ginsburg, 83, said she will not leave her job “as long as I can do it full steam.”

But she mentioned that that Justices Anthony M. Kennedy and Stephen G. Breyer are no longer young, alluding to the effect the presidential election will have on the court.

Her colleagues on the court have not spoken publicly about the presidential race or the ongoing confirmation battle facing Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, but Ginsburg talked about both.

She offered an endorsement of Garland and said the Senate must do its job to fill the vacancy left by the death of Antonin Scalia.

“I think he is about as well qualified as any nominee to this court,” she said. “Super bright and very nice, very easy to deal with. And super prepared. He would be a great colleague.”

Ginsburg should remember that she's lucky enough to have places to go where her type will be accepted.

If she agrees to take Sotomayor and Breyer with her, I'll consider covering their airfare. And maybe the parachutes.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

@thackney

WTF? In one photo she has a glove on her right hand while nodding out,and in the next one she has the glove on her left hand.

Somebody is too clever with Photo Shop that is good for them.

Now I am wondering how much those photos have been doctored.

It doesn't surprise that one of the marxist SCOTUS justices would be so stupid as to make a political statement like this.

There is nothing deliberative about them - they are nothing more than a leftwing voting block.

and I don't blame the democrat wackos in congress for this state of things. For this I thank Orin Hatch and Co. for their constant and ready compliance with the left.

Seems that behavior should be a disqualifier for remaining on court.

So much for any illusion that the court is an apolitical entity.
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

They look like two different events. Everyone's wearing different clothing.

My question is what does she have against New Zealand? What did they ever do to her?

If she dozes during the SOTU speech then she likely does it during Supreme Court arguments.  She needs to be at home watching Oprah.

Two different events, both got media coverage of her sleeping.  No photoshop.

Really can't say I blame her.  I have yet to listen to either of them give an entire speech.  Gotta love the TV remote.

If she does this on a regular basis as major political events, that should be grounds for removing her from the bench. She is obviously too old and feeble to stay alert. Or for what passed for alert with her, anyway.

Her problem wasn't just due to old and feeble.

Falls asleep, might be under the influence and now has expressly stated her political biases. Yeah, that's the fine kind of Supreme Court justice we need.  **nononono*

No problem. She just wakes up long enough for either the Wise Latina, the pencil-necked liberal arts major & former Watergate prosecutor or Alan Kagan to tell her how to vote.

How about being thankful her 'friend' on the court is now dead?
