House Approves Measure to Bar Women from Draft Registration

Associated Press | Jul 07, 2016 | by Richard Lardner

WASHINGTON — The Republican-led House backed a measure Thursday that seeks to bar women from being required to register for a potential military draft, a victory for social conservatives who fear that forcing females to sign up is another step toward the blurring of gender lines.

By a vote of 217 to 203, lawmakers approved an amendment that would block the Selective Service System from using any money to alter draft registration requirements that currently apply only to men between the ages of 18 and 25.

I see this as using women in the draft as a political football, not a serious consideration.  The commiecrats have shown an interest, on the surface, in equality for women in the military.  So to be consistent, they will have to vote no on this which will give the repugnantcans a chance to say the other side isn't protecting women.  It could eventually force Obama to veto such a bill which goes against his efforts for "equality."  Things just keep getting more and more complicated needlessly by congressional political football.
