North Korea: US Sanctions on Kim a 'Declaration of War'

North Korea said Thursday that the most recent U.S. sanctions imposed on its leader, Kim Jong Un, amounted to a "declaration of war" and vowed to take strong retaliatory measures against "the worst-ever hostile act."

On Wednesday, the U.S. blacklisted Kim, along with 10 other people and five government ministries and departments, for the first time over human rights abuses.

"Under Kim Jong Un, North Korea continues to inflict intolerable cruelty and hardship on millions of its own people, including extrajudicial killings, forced labor and torture," Adam Szubin, the U.S. Department of Treasury's acting undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, said in a statement.

We may well laugh at Kim's antics, "fat boy" but there is serious suffering being caused there.

Kim Un knew two years ago this was coming...he certainly had plenty of warnings.....but you are right sanctions will only cause more harm to an already suffering people there. ..but I don't think they're up for another famine as they had as a sacrifice to the state before.....

Some saying Obama's move likely triggered by requirements in the 'North Korea Sanctions and Policy Enforcement Act' approved by Congress in Feb. of this year........Still Obama had the authority to sanction ANY North Korean official or entity for simply being part of the North Korean government before this......he had previously sanctioned by name the presidents of Belarus and Zimbabwe, as well as officials from other countries, for human rights violations.... But he didn't until today....so why now????

The thing is, that China has been complying with the sanctions (more or less) and this has whacked NK pretty hard.
