Report: Walker to speak at Republican National Convention

By Tyler Pager

07/05/16 01:12 PM EDT

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will speak at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland later this month, according to a report Tuesday from WKOW, the ABC affiliate in Madison, Wisconsin.

Walker, who ran for the Republican nomination but dropped out last September, is one of the first speakers to confirm his participation. Donald Trump has said four of his kids and his wife will also speak at the convention.

It appears Gov. Walker is moving from the column marked "nevertrump" to the column marked "reality."

Binary. I wonder if the phony FBI investigation announcement, did it for him?

Very significant announcement about a widely respected former candidate, and not a peep from the #nevertrump briefingroom brigade.

Out of curiosity, how would you define a #nevertrump?

Do they have to be a card carrying member of some club, or is anyone who has declared they cannot support your candidate because said candidate has not given them a good reason qualified?

Because my personal decision not to support Trump at this time is not contingent upon what any other person plans to do. Good for Walker.

Well, it ought to be contingent on what ONE other person will do once in office....Hillary Clinton.

Get out your aluminum foil hats, boys! Sinkspur has another conspiracy theory...turns out Walker's secretly introducing Commander Zod, presidential candidate from the planet Ming...and he is going to mind ray all the delegates into voting for him. Good work uncovering the plot, Sinkspur!

Whether he speaks at the convention has nothing to do with me being #nevertrump . How is that suppose to be a significant event for those that see no possibility in voting for a fraud and conman like trump?
As far as I can tell it is only the followers of trump that change their own positions when the anointed degenerate makes statements that are opposed to their own positions. No matter what trump says his followers cry out Yes you are right. I've only ever witnessed that with shills and cultists. Conservative sites and posters used to critique and debate when those they believed in went astray. Not with trump followers.

Bunk. I've crticized the man repeatedly right here on this site, as have many others. Bottom line, a blind wombat with blinders on could see that Hillary is way Left of Trump and vastly more damaging to the ideals of conservatism than is a Trump. Only Moral Narcissism or Cultic enslavement to the Nevertrump movement could obscure this obvious truism.

We, the GOP/Conservatism, have a candidate....all we need do now is unite and we win the presidency back from the Socialist Abyss it's headed into. Fail to do so, and that abyss awaits. It's really that simple...only stubbornness keeps you from seeing it.

Walker  has stated that a vote for anyone other than presumptive party presidential nominee Donald Trump is a "de facto vote" for Hillary Clinton....."I think there is a clear contrast," said Gov. Walker. "For those who raise concerns like I just did about the judgment of Hillary Clinton in terms of not just those emails, but some of the other issues out there, really there's only one alternative."

Walker indicated the Clinton email scandal would be a focus of his speech..."If someone doesn't cast a vote for the Republican nominee, they are effectively casting a vote for her and that's 'part' of what I'd be willing to talk about," said Gov. Walker.

Walker acknowledged he is rejecting the idea that Trump could still be replaced as the GOP nominee.

Gov. Walker...... "From the delegates I've talked to here in Wisconsin, as well as those across the country, as much as there have been legitimate issues raised and concerns - the bottom line is most delegates are headed down the path that I am, which is that it's a clear contrast. It's either gonna be Hillary Clinton or it's gonna be Donald Trump and we have to decide who we want it to be."

All I would admit is that Hillary is corrupt and doesn't hide it.  Trump is a slow reveal.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

I will grant you that I have seen a criticism from you about trump along with the defense of trump that requires the twisting of truth and logic.

Really hooked on your moral narcissism idea... but it really doesn't deflect from what the whole world sees...trump with a deranged narcissist disorder.  Then you throw out your own cultic expression to try to deflect from the fact that most observers, including trump himself, see many of the trump followers as cultic....From shoot someone on Fifth Avenue to going Code Pink on GWB the followers will say nary a word. Finally, you wouldn't know a truism if walked right into it. My eyesight is just fine and stubbornness is not the problem with #nevertrump. I just will not look the other way concerning the character and integrity of trump, which should be the first part in vetting who you can support. Gotta go and look into the production of enough #nevertrump yard signs to blanket the city.  :seeya:

When you and your allies quit throwing around hyperbole like "deranged" and "cultic", I'll be happy to set aside the use of the term moral narcissism. That will be difficult for me, as it is SO apt in describing MANY within the NeverTrump movement. The "I'm so moral I'd never vote for him, despite the fact my not doing so will put a far more dangerous and immoral person in the presidency" attitude that seems to be the guiding light for that group, really is a sick kind of moral narcissism. Sadly, it also may just be enough to bring us more liberal SCJ's, enhanced and enlarged Obamacare, wide open borders and the triumph of the far Left social agenda.  That, to me, is well worth fighting against.

I'm not voting for Hillary either, so my conscience is clear.

Not voting for Hillary is a vote for Trump.

So much for thinking Walker was a principled conservative.

You are spot on with that analysis.  Back before I was kicked out of Free Republic, I saw it time and again.

Devout conservatives (like Bray) suddenly thought it was okay to brag about multiple adultery and women as conquests.

Formerly moral people decided that cohorting with mobsters and democrats in one's business life was just what you had to do to do business in New York.

Anti-illegal immigration people realized that Trump had to hire illegals because Americans wouldn't work for his low wage, no benefit hiring plan.  And that it was okay.

I could go on.

Will those trumpers on TOS who had a soul ever get it back?

Cut him some slack, Fish, until we hear what he has to say.

It's an unknown phenomenon when a candidate is So Bad that nobody wants to be his Veep and nobody wants to speak at the convention.

So much for Trump's claim that nobody who didn't endorse him would speak at the convention.  I guess he's having more problems recruiting speakers than we thought.

Well, when you run against and soundly defeat the establishment...its really not surprising that the establishment doesn't want to speak at your convention. As for speakers, he's having no problem at all recruiting them...they just aren't the usual insider suspects. Kudos to Governor Walker for seeing the big picture and taking the ethical course. That's what grown-ups do.
