The Trump campaign is being accused of illegally soliciting campaign funds from foreigners, and CNN took their “contributor” Corey Lewandowski to task for defending the campaign, and he gets really rattled by it.

You can tell he doesn’t know any of the facts of the story and he’s just lashing out with complete ignorance on the subject:

Here’s more about the complaint filed about his illegal solicitations from CNN:

Quote
Government watchdog groups have a filed a complaint alleging that the Donald Trump campaign broke federal election laws when a fundraising solicitation went to several foreign email addresses. Two groups, Campaign Legal Center and Democracy 21, who work to combat the influence of big money in politics, announced they would be filing the complaint with the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday.

In the filing, the groups argue that a fundraising email from Trump’s campaign this month went to “dozens” of politicians from Iceland, Scotland, Australia and Britain, as noted by media and tweets, with email addresses ending in foreign domains including “.uk” and “.is.”

Campaign donations from foreign nationals are prohibited by federal election law, and the groups claim that Trump emailing obviously foreign addresses also is a violation. “Donald Trump should have known better,” Paul S. Ryan, CLC deputy executive director, said in a statement.

“It is a no-brainer that it violates the law to send fundraising emails to members of a foreign government on their official foreign government email accounts, and yet, that’s exactly what Trump has done repeatedly.” The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment on the complaint.

Now I say never ascribe to bad intentions what can be explained by plain incompetence, so it’s certainly possibly that the ridiculously understaffed and incompetent Trump campaign might have done this by accident. But even if that’s the case, do we really want such a careless and foolish President? I need a stiff drink.

Yeah. It's fun to watch them try to spin it, but it was probably sheer incompetence. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for all those "the best people" we keep hearing about, but screw ups happen.

There was a devastating article on Red State this morning about another Trump hire leaving the ship which included this quote:

" "Total dysfunction, zero plan, bifurcated leadership, and a principal who is so unwilling to be staffed it makes it impossible to have any self-respect, pride in your work or sense of accomplishment," one veteran of many Republican campaigns told me."

Another observer pointed out that this Trump staff was the only place that Corey Lewandowski could have survived for a year.
Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain.
